I'm in the third cycle of chemo, two more cycles to go. (A cycle is two chemo infusions spread 7 days apart, then a week 'off'). There are 'good' days and 'bad' days, smoking dope helps. Had a CT scan (without contrast b/c my kidneys won't handle it) and am waiting to see if the tumor has changed at all. Should know later this week. Plan is for chemo to shrink the tumor and give me a chance to get strong enough to survive the operation to remove it (and all of part of my bladder). Decision(s) to be made at end of chemo.

Update
First specialist from Wake Forest told wife and I that the tumor was inoperable; basically to go home and ‘get your affairs in order’. My oncologist called bullshit on this prognosis and sent me out to Duke this week to see another specialist.

This specialist is willing to attempt an operation but has warned me that it will be no cakewalk (his words). But at least it represents a bit of light in this medical darkness. Frankly, I never even went to see a doctor my entire adult life and enjoyed great health for decades. Then all hell broke loose early this year; I’ve already run up over $300,000 in medical costs since Jan 1. But even uglier I have gone through all kinds of medical ‘torture’; shit that you would never wish on your worst enemy. (Anyone up for devices run up through their dick and into their bladder?)

I mention this for educational purposes, please consider eating right, exercising, and avoiding unhealthy activities. It is far less difficult to do then to go through the kind of shit that I’ve experienced lately.

I am scheduled to undergo the knife late this month, so I will be afk for a few weeks. If you don’t see me by the second week in Sept, you can assume that I didn’t make it. I want to thank everyone who has contributed to TW for the enjoyment that it has brought me over the years. I also want to thank those who have offered me their thoughts and prayers.

Update
I’m alive and survived the surgery (sorry to disappoint the handful of assholes who were PMing in game to die).

It’s rough right now, pain is incredible but at least it’s better than the alternative. They removed my bladder, prostrate, and some lymph nodes. They cut out section of my small intestine and fashioned a stoma out of it. The tumor was the size of an orange. The surgeon found no cancer in the margins but the next 6 months will telling to see if it resurfaces. The morphine was great as are the Oxys now.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, it means a lot. The Duke University Hospital quality of care was outstanding and I would recommend them to any one for anything.
