So... I've been posting more 'bitchy' posts recently. Am I getting more bitchy or are people just getting more retarded. Comments? I don't feel more bitchy.. I've been eating, sleeping, working, reading... I feel fine. Is the IQ of the world (and TW) declining?

Another funny thing... Wow! It sure sounds like they are making progress in Israel doesn't it? If I didn't know better I would think they are on the verge of peace.. but that will never happen. Heh. Wouldn't it just be fucking crazy if President Bush ended up being the person to 'solve' this middle east problem? After all else has failed just imagine that halfwit fixing the problem. Anywho, back to the issues at hand - The reason why there has been no peace in that region and won't be for a long time: There needs to be CULTURAL CHANGE. Military/political concessions will do nothing. They are only attempts at fixing symptoms of the real problem. And the international community's political correctness is also ignoring the underlying problem. Until islam modernizes or people drop it, and certain jews stop influencing israeli foreign policy with their religious bullshit, there will be no end to this.

It was probably this month's issue of Time magazine. It's an inflammatory cover design--questionable to say the very least.

The actual article was about (US Christian) religious sects and the different kinds of "mission work" they do around the world. It was actually a fairly balanced piece detailing both ends of the spectrum (missionaries who blend in with the host culture and only offer religious advice when queried, as opposed to the other extreme of missionaries who shout and/or damn people on street corners). The question raised seems to be similar to the argument raised about the effect of our media exports on the rest of the world: are we typically sending the wrong image of what Joe American is all about?

It's an interesting question, if not completely pedantic. I'm sorry to sound pessimistic here, but even if I had the best intentions of trying to change either how Hollywood works (which I really don't believe to be a major factor) or block missionary emigration, I really don't think I could make any noticable difference.

Sorry for the little aside, I just thought it was a semi-interesting article.

za gophar: You're not advancing the argument for religion by denouncing a group. Heard of anything called The Crusades? How about Manifest Destiny? Religion has historically inspired a lot of needless death, as one group denounces another in the name of a deity (not to mention that certain Catholic preists can hide behind the robe of Holy Mother Church--that's a giant crock of shit if I've ever seen one). I'm not saying you're wrong by believing in God (or Vishnu, or Buddha, or Siva, or Muhammad, or whatever), but please don't drop morals on others. I don't care if your God has promised you a gold-plated magical Buick Skylark to fly around in when you die--it still doesn't mean I'll buy his t-shirt.
