    Free online games

Soldat is fun but too many cheaters.

Lately I've been getting hooked on Whispers in Akarra - www.akarra.com

Very simple 2d RPG, and so bandwidth friendly that I play online with my housemate sharing a single 56k modem.

Simple and addictive, like ss with swords.

EDIT: Akarra server is down at the moment and may be for a few days, who knows. IRC Quakenet server, channel #akarra

For some reason RPGs just don't appeal to me....I need in your face action...I dislike having to work for action. That's also why I don't like many SVS zones, because sometimes it's hard to find action.

Gunbound does involve some sitting around and waiting, however this turn-based style allows pretty much any modem allow in on the action with few affects of lag. Much like the game Warheads, or whatever it was called.

Warheads (I think) is the game that I'm pretty positive that ?go gravbomber is modelled after. Warheads however was also a turn-based game that didn't allow people to move freely across the map without wasting a turn. They more or less had to jump from planet to planet, hoping that the affects of gravity wouldn't mess up their jump. The problem with this game though...there was a freeware version, and a bought version. The freeware version was just fine in and of itself, there were plenty of ships and weapons, and defense mechanizms. But the people who actually paid for the game, could essentially make up any weapon that they wanted, and any defense that they wanted.....giving them an unmatched advantage of the freeware users. Therefore, making the game no fun...for cheapos like myself.

Why did I just go rambling on about this game? Heckifano.
