  • Another dissatisfied ticketmaster customer

In case you didn't know already, ticketmaster sucks.

According to ticketmaster, box seats = last row balcony. I bought 2 tickets to a show for my girlfriend's birthday that cost $114 including an $18 "convenience charge". According to their web page, I bought 2 box seat tickets. When we got to the theater, we were ushered to the very last row at the top of the balcony. You couldn't get any farther back and the actors couldn't get any smaller. The usher said the theater doesn't even have box seats.

When I called ticketmaster today, the supervisor I talked to refused to refund me any part of the ticket price. Apparently I was supposed to leave the show after we had gotten dressed up, drove to the theater, and I had already paid $13 for parking. I wasn't asking for a full refund, just the convenience charge since we did see the show. The supervisor said they could not and that if you buy from ticketmaster, you have no guarantee that the tickets you are buying are the correct tickets.

Do yourself a favor and do not buy tickets through ticketmaster. Go to the box office and purchase the tickets directly. You will save money and you will get the seats you pay for.

I also found out that if you buy through ticketmaster you will get SPAM mail and you have no chance to opt out. According to their "privacy policy" they DO collect and share with 3rd parties:
    * personal information (full name, postal address, phone number and email address)
    * financial information (e.g. passwords, credit and debit card numbers and bank and other financial institution account numbers) and
    * demographic information (zip code, hometown, gender, purchase history information and age) from you.

Needless to say, I'm having my account deleted. Ticketmaster and SPAM: http://news.com.com/2100-1026_3-5060827.html.

Meh, ticketmaster's just too dang convenient though, didn't they have a layout of the arena? Showing where the box was? You must not have done your research on the theatre, they probably have the box seats option for every theatre, and you just got screwed by paying a little less attention than you should have.

Boxes are usually only 2-4 seats and sometimes don't show up on seating charts. The seat type is theater specific, for example, "orchestra level" was one type. And when the search criteria is "2 box seats" and the result description is "2 box seats right side" you'd think I did everything right. The supervisor told me that they cannot guarantee any information on their web site is correct.

I asked him if they would update their web site so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. He said they may or may not.

Anyway, the actors (musicians, costume/set designers, etc) get $40 per ticket and tickemaster gets $9 for that kind of service? That jus ain't right.

TWe ordered tickets from ticketmaster and got the very last three seats in the house. They divide the venues into too large of sections. You could pay for a decent seat in a section but it could be in a shitty part with an abstructed view. Box office is the way to go.

That's why you buy your tickets early, so you can select the section you want. (Assuming their information is correct)

any company that responds to customer complaints in that way is fucked. whether he did or did not do enough research is irrelevant.
