Why don't women like heavy metal?

So me, my girlfriend and my two buddies are going out to eat the other night. We get into my car, and when I turn it on my radio turns on as well. I didn't realize what CD I currently had in until it started playing. As it turns out, it was Blind Guardian, a German heavy metal band (they're quality by the way, if you like metal at all check them out). Now I'm not talking offensive mallcore "FUCK FUCK FUCK SHIT KILL EVERYTHING" metal. I'm talking REAL heavy metal with actual lyrics. But anyway, the CD starts playing in the middle of this totally badass guitar solo. My girlfriend immediately starts hitting buttons on the radio, then proceeds to tell me how bad heavy metal is and how much she hates it for a solid 10 minutes. I had to drive all the way to the restaurant listening to 50 Cent and Lil' Kim talking about a magic stick (are they referring to a penis, or what? somebody clue me in).

All that aside, my question is this: Why do girls hate hard rock/heavy metal so much? Is it not girly enough? Would it make them look like total butch dykes if they listened to it? Why do they hate those genres so much, but enjoy listening to mainstream rap songs that are degrading to women and just talk about getting fucked up and slapping ass?

First one of you that can provide me with a explanation will receive the magic stick (a penis?)

not all girls hate it, only most of them. Unfortunately I can't give an explanation as to why. It's like asking why don't you like this rap stuff...to which you'd probably reply "because it's shit" or something to that effect, and I would agree. But I can't explain why it's shit, just like I can't explain why I don't like the taste of Brussel sprouts etc.

Well, heres my thoery, and by the way, not all girls hate heavy music, my sister is the one that got me and kept me into it.

For the other girls, I think it has a lot to do with popularity and girls insicurities. They will follow along with the crowd and like any music that the rest of the crowd likes. It makes no sense that a girl would find a sensative metal song to be crap, yet like a very insensative rap song song about "shaking your ass". But I think it is because they just want to be liked by the guys, so they go along with it.

A lot of people are into hiphop and whatever else Much Music (or MTV) throws at you. Back in the day when Guns and Roses was popular, most girls liked that stuff too. I dont think it has anything to do with the actual gendre of the music itself.

On the other hand, I think there are more guys that are secure with themselves enough to stray from the mainstream pack, and venture into other gendres of music that may not be the "in" thing.

If you dont like that theory, you could always just say its because guys are violent by nature and we need music that brings out anger, with powerful guitars and loud yelling.

By the way, to any girls that are into alternative choices of music and dont follow the pack, you are proving that you can be stronger than most other girls, or guys for that matter. So good job.

I will explain now, why rap is shit.

Rap is not shit. Rap is a gendre of music that, for the most part, is shit. There are rap artists that are extremely talented, and for them it is a great way to express themselves. On the other hand there are less talented rappers that just throw easy rhyms together that for the most part are just gloating about crime, sex, and $$$. There are good rap artists out there, but the current mainstream seems to be set on crap for mindless teenagers who want to be in the "in" crowd.

The music industry in general is shit. They throw whatever they think will make them a few dollars at the people that have no minds to think for themselves.

When you listen to an album, why do you listen to it? because it sounds good? because it makes you want to dance? because you want to be accepted? because it teaches you something? because you know that it means something intelligent and powerful?

When you listen to music you need to understand why you are listening to it. And you need to understand that the person putting the music out is not God. It is just a person like you or me. They might have exceptional talents, but that is no reason to fucking pray to them at night, or beg for their autograph.

Why most rap is shit:
The rap that is just useless rhyming about thug lyfe and gangstaz is shit. It doesnt have any artistic value, and in 10 years will hopefully be forgotten. Good music, in my opinion, has either some kind of meaningful statement, or some kind of intellectual meaning behind it. Which most rap does not have. Smacking your bitch up and lighting up your crack pipe is not a meaningful statement, unless it is from a sarcastic point of view.

I have a theory.

The Cause:
There needs only be one guy, with bad taste in music. He will influence her tastes by continuously playing the same R&B/rap/hiphop while he drives her around town looking for a place to park both his car and his dick in seclusion.
Now we all know girls have this natural instinct to herd together. They shop in herds, they go to the bathroom in herds, they even listen to music in herds.

The Effect:
From there on it's like a sexually transmitted disease. He shares it with her, she shares it with her friends, her friends share it with their boyfriends who end up unfortunately being those of us who like metal. We get brain tumors from being exposed to it. We die, they live on. The cycle continues...

The Solution:
First, we find and kill the guy that started it.
Second, we reprogram our musically deficient girlfriends by locking them in a small room with nothing but speakers playing metal for extended periods.
Thirdly. Those who cannot be reprogrammed should be taken back to the place where you first met them, and left there with a contaminated label attached to their foreheads as a future warning to the next guy looking to park his dick.

Think about what girls like. jewelry, fancy soaps and lotions, pink stuff, and Dave matthews. Heavy metal is very masculine and aggressive and only someone with whopping assloads of testosterone could begin to understand it.

The whole thing about women following the herd is mostly bullshit. Women just like fruity music, just like they enjoy wearing dresses and owning 40 pairs of shoes.
