No shit its true. The reason being is the media. You don't see story after story about people dying from starvation every second. It reminds me of that thing with the frog. If you put it in a pot of boiling water it will jump out immediatley, but if you put it in cool water and boil it slowly, it will remain inside and die.

Come on. I'm not a fan of GW or the Bush Doctrine, but you've gotta say this--Afghanistan was fairly necessary. If someone's punching you in the face, and does so after repeated requests to stop, should you just continue to do nothing? It's not as simple as "they don't like us," it was more like "they're going to keep doing this shit as long as we let them." Who else was going to stop them? The Taliban? They didn't do anything, and weren't ever going to crack down on terrorist activity in the country--they were pretty much mandated by the seated government. Now, I'm not a "terrorist alarmist," but I have a good enough grasp of the situation to know that there was a large concentration of people that didn't hold any regard for my life (or anyone else who just happened to live in the same country as I do). These aren't the kind of people you can have a rational dialogue with. They used civilian jetliners as missles to attack normal everyday civilians, for the love of christ.

And it was more like three thousand people dying (not just Americans, but a large combination of creeds and nationalities). Has everyone else just kind of forgotten what that was like? I was hoping that people wouldn't just glaze over a few years later, but it looks like that fear has been realized.

Yes, people die everyday from AIDS and starvation in Africa. People also die from cancer everyday, in every conceivable nation. Yet more people die from oppressive regimes that have no regard for basic human rights--again, every day. It's horrible, and I'm not trying to detract from the problem, but it's just another thing that "isn't fair" in the world. The US does a lot to help those situations, as do a lot of countries. Does it do as much as it possibly could? Probably not. But neither do most countries.

The world isn't fair, ladies and gentlemen. It never has been, and it probably never will be. But as for coming down on any one country because it's not going all-out on all the world's problems--that's just stupid. No country has the resources to do that. In case you haven't noticed, we're ALL in this together. As of right now, there is only one habitable planet. Let's stop pointing fingers and actually work together to fix things.

As your reading this someone has died of starvation. From that alone, if you counted for sept 11 to present day, I'm sad at maths but its alot more than the people that died in twin towers.

What happened there was terrible, but the situation in the 3rd world / LEDC countries is 6x worse.

I don't live in America, I don't care about bush, I only know what spinsanity tells me. But what I can tell you is that the sitatuon in the places where youve probably never been in is much worse than your 3 McDonalds a street country.
