And 1984 is much more gruesome/apocolyptic.

The other argument I have is that if it were really a government conspiracy, that means that governments of Finland, Sweden, Norway, England, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Canada, the United States, and others would have to collaborate on ideologies to "instate" through this 2d spaceship game. And we all know that amongst political parties in single nations alone a consensus is hard to come by.

someone watched tht movie that was just on the disney channel, with those people who programmed a mind-controlling device into a computer game and had a school test it out and they all wore blue and there was this family of black super-heroes and the kid lied about being able to fly, and his teacher didn't know about what was going on.

I didn't htink 1984 was all that apocolyptic, we don't really even know if there were wars going on in that book or if they were lies, it was simply put that the government had complete control of its subjects, and htere was no end in sight...meaning no apocolypse in sight

if you want to take it in a religious direction.....let me twist it a little. there was no religion in the book unless you consider Big Brother god, and all that sillyness, their government made the people believe there would be no end, and eventually that that's how it's always been, so no apocolypse in sight, at least in the book

I was thinking apocolyptic in the sense that there is no more free thought. That, and the fact that, like you mentioned, there is no more religion. So in essence, God would be considered moot. Maybe not apocolyptic, just very lifeless.
