I'm sure this will be moved to tech help but I wanted it here first so I could get some traffic to it so here goes.
I want to customize my stereo system in that I want to build my front channel speakers into the entertainment unit. My question is this. Can I use car speakers for this (I know car speakers are 4 ohms and house are 8) But if I use car speakers will that fry my amp, even if I connect them in Series? Amd then if thats the case, would using 2 800 watt 10" speakers for the sub be a good thing? I can get a pretty good deal on those ones.
Now for any one that could help me out I have 12.5" square for front channel space to work with. What would be the best way to build this channels? Could I go with like 2 5.25" mids and use the intire space or would I have to block it in more, add ports , fully inclose it......
Lastly. I am looking at gettting a 5.1 reciever for the system to give me the surround sound. The amp I have now is older and only l/r front and l/r rear, would I be able to use this as a slave amp for the subs?
