This post is purely based on my personal opinion. I do not claim it to be the 'ultimate' truth. It might sound a bit 'insane' to you when you 1st read it. But you see, if everyone already knows what I have to say, then there is no point to start a thread on it in the 1st place.
Okey ... I should probably start with some background knowledge on economics.
From history, it is somehow easy to see that the countries with the most efficient ways of production prevailed, they were able to dominate trade with other countries, strengthen their military and better obtain scarce resources.
There were a lot of lives lost due to 9/11 tragedy. Nothing can be done to reverse that. There was another significant effect with matching magnitude caused by 9/11, namely the incident worsened the U.S. economy which had just happened to start rebounding from its downturn.
I have run out time, lets cut the story short:
Bush and his 'consultants' thought: Muslims have caused so much damage, and made us lose so much $$, they have to repay.
How?
Think about this: oil and gas = blood to modern industrial countries.
Cheaper (oil & gas) -> faster economic growth -> more $$$ -> people happier -> Bush get re-elected
The last cause and effect is not necessarily true, but if there is no significant economic growth, Bush will definitely get kicked out of white house.
War, lemme remind ya, it's all about raping other country for their resources. It is interesting to note how Germany (right before WWII) was in the same boat as U.S. before war on Iraq - almost on the edge of economical recession.
