much of what you've said is more or less general bias being spread around like gospel, although there is a deeper push behind the war on iraq, and there has been many upon many of threads from people with much the same type of shit that you've said. I'll leave you with this thought... if we are so wrapped up on a war with terrorism, why wasnt this done sooner, when tens of thousands were slaughtered for their religious beliefs. Why did we just sit back then?

Now using the name of God is highly inappropraite in today's society. However the mentality has not changed, just because Bush didn't yell it out, doesn't mean he is not thinking about it.
Since you are not a religious person, you probably can't stand the psyche. But just imagine for some reasons you believe you are the chosen ones and another bunch of people come along claiming that they are the chosen ones and you are not. Then some of them and went burn down one of your toliet. You won't be mad at them?
In no way did I imply that all muslims are bad people, but religion is not science, it does not require logic. It demands blind believe and total devotion.
I am glad you agreed its about oil ... but it's also about revenage. You would think people are rational, unfortunately they are not.Wont die, no surrender 2

I don't think most of the people in Bush's Cabinet share his religious devotion. But remember if you disagree with someone on his action and motives for his action you say
'I do not agree, I think ...'
But when you agree with someone on his action, disagree on his motives, but you really what that action to be taken, you proably will say
'yes, and on top of that we should do this because ...'
I won't be surprised if most of the people in Bush's cabinet are higher intelligent and logical individual. And they push for the war because of the oil. But you can't deny that religious differences is a reason for the war, not against war.
BTW, I am a agnostic, so don't flame me on my religious ground.Wont die, no surrender 2

But I think you're entirely off the mark with the whole "Bush thinking he's a Christian crusader" idea. Sure, he may slip some "God is on our side" rhetoric into speeches, but that doesn't mean he's a devout Christian. All that means is that he knows that a large majority of the voting American public believes in the whole "America is God's country" rhetorical BS (ask HeavenSent, they're out there), and he's a politician who needs to cater to the voting majority. That's all. He can wrap himself up in the American flag and throw scripture verses around all he wants, but at the end of the day he's still just another politician, and a rather bad one at that.
You don't have to be a deeply religious person to tell when someone's faking it for the sake of someone else. HeavenSent, for all of him that I don't agree with, truly believes in the word. More power to him. There's a lot of people in this world who can't (or won't) take a stand on anything. But Bush, for all his Bible-thumping chest-beating, is transparent as a motherfucker. He likes money, and lots of it. He also likes being re-elected. That's about where his loyalties lie.Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

He's acquisitive if nothing else, he's taking certain steps to make sure he looks like the good guy in the end so he gets re-elected.it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

When George Bush was campaigning for the presidency, as incumbent vice president, one of his stops was in Chicago, Illinois, on August 27, 1987. At O'Hare Airport he held a formal outdoor news conference. There Robert I. Sherman, a reporter for the American Atheist news journal, fully accredited by the state of Illinois and by invitation a participating member of the press corps covering the national candidates had the following exchange with then Vice President Bush.
Sherman: What will you do to win the votes of the Americans who are Atheists?
Bush: I guess I'm pretty weak in the Atheist community. Faith in god is important to me.
Sherman: Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are Atheists?
Bush: No, I don't know that Atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.
Sherman (somewhat taken aback): Do you support as a sound constitutional principle the separation of state and church?
Bush: Yes, I support the separation of church and state. I'm just not very high on Atheists.
On October 29, 1988, Mr. Sherman had a confrontation with Ed Murnane, cochairman of the Bush-Quayle '88 Illinois campaign. This concerned a law-suit Mr. Sherman had filed to stop the Community Consolidated School District 21 (Chicago, Illinois, suburb) from forcing his first-grade Atheist son to pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States "one nation under God" (Bush's phrase). The following conversation took place.
Sherman: American Atheists filed the Pledge of Allegiance lawsuit yesterday. Does the Bush campaign have an official response to this filing?
Murnane: It's bullshit.
Sherman: What is bullshit?
Murnane: Everything that American Atheists does, Rob, is bullshit.
Sherman: Thank you for telling me what the official position of the Bush campaign is on this issue.
Murnane: You're welcomeWont die, no surrender 2

Those sites you gave aren't creditable, any nut job can put stuff on the internet and claim that it's true. I'd believe it if a news source wrote it and not some angry athiests and bush haters. Well I wouldn't just believe what the new says because it's the news but past experiences show us that they give more true information then false information.it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

Why would people make things like this up? I don't see there were rumours about Clinton or Reagan concerning such a matter.
BTW, This article was also archived on the official U.S. Atheists' organisation web site. It was there where I first came across such a quote. I don't know whether it is still up.Wont die, no surrender 2
