    MoG, that's why you wait for price drops.To spend anything over 400 for a console system is retarded as all hell. I saw a promo for this system at my friends house, and supposedly you will be able to download games straight to the console. You can also try games before you buy them. I think this console will be expensive (even more so than the ps2) when it comes out , or they will rape you via the downloading game /trying out a game charges. I'm not even going to bother with that system unless it's games are mindblowing. That or wait for a ps2/PC port of said games.
    My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

        MoG you sound like a complete moron. But I'm a sucker for consoles too. Sega easily burned up the most of my money: 2 saturns (one broke) and a Dreamcast which both sported shitty games (DC had some gold), and had production stopped on them very quickly. I bought a Gamecube, which I think is awesome, when it first came out, but only because it was so much cheaper than ps2 and xbox.
        i was a Sega head too, but i chose the route of the Playstation. But, don't get me wrong, i love Gamecube as well.

          I don't see any component-out on that beast, and I'm not buying a next-gen console if it doesn't have component-out.

          Fuck S-Video.

                Don't hold you breath for this gaming console.

                Read this post on slashdot and the articles about Timothy Roberts and their business model.

                After the $400 console, you'll need an internet connection and a $10 / month subscription to download games. You can't buy games in the store. If the company ever goes under, bye-bye games.

                Not too impressive:

                Let's start by saying the console is real, not vaporware. I've seen a working prototype in action. Inside the spacy-looking case it's just a PC running Windows XP that has no CD or floppy drive, and uses a proprietary encryption scheme for data stored on its hard drive.

                The specs for the final, finished version that will be shipped to end users are still in flux, but at the $400 price point mentioned by Infinium CEO Tim Roberts while he and I were looking at a mockup hidden away at respected (but low-profile) Robrady Design in Sarasota, Florida, it ought to be no big deal to deliver a 2GHz Mini-ATX PC with a wireless keyboard, mouse, and cool-looking game controller.

                In fact, Roberts said during our chat, one of the reasons now is a better time than the height of the dot-boom to launch Infinium Labs is that "component prices have dropped" enough to make this computer feasible at $400 per unit, a`price even lower than the $600 to $700 he spoke of as recently as February.

                Really, the only thing that differentiates this 'game console' from a standard, Windows-running PC is that it has no way to get data on or off of it except through a dedicated connection to Infinium Labs' own servers via your broadband ISP, plus the fact that if you try to open it up or modify it or grab data from the hard drive, bad things will happen, starting with violation of the terms under which you will lease or purchase the Phantom.

                  anyone who is considering buying this POS consider this:
                  Send me the money you would spend on it as well as what it would cost for your ISP, also don't forget to send your electric bill increase to me as well. I will use the money for drugs, and it will be a smarter purchase than that thing.

                    People are saying I sound like a moron... I bought the N64 and games when I was like 13, and it was the shit back then.

                    Since then the only gaming system I have bought is my computer, and an internet connection. So you sir can call yourself a moron...

                    And Bloodzombie, I cant buy games on ebay because I dont have a credit card, I did wait for my N64 to drop down to $149 and it took 2 years to get down to that price. I bought used games for like $50 each, which still was a waste of money.

                    I never bought a $600 dollar Ps2 and I also think people that spent that much are morons. I think if you spend any money on a Ps2 you are a moron because that system sucks ass.

                    The only system I would even think about buying is the X-box because it plays DVD's and has the best graphics and games out of any of the systems for my tastes.

                      i saw in a local newspaper,

                      PS2
                      2 controllers;
                      5 games;
                      DVD remote;
                      2 DVDs;
                      steering wheel;
                      light gun;

                      all for £200

                      also, i only need a PC with high speed net connection and im sorted. I only really play multiplayer FPSs

                        MOG.. then why are you crying?

                        Geekbot, the interesting thing that it says in there is about the violation of the terms of buying or leasing... if you can lease this system, it would definitely be the way to go from the sounds of it. that way, if/when the company goes under, you didn't drop $400 on a worthless box. You can just give it back and stop making payments. of course this all depends on how much they want to lease this thing, but if it's about the same price or a little more than renting games for a ps2/xbox all the time, then it makes sense as long as you can d/l and play whatever you want without extra charges.

                          Hi, PS2s play DVDs too. And Xbox is fine if you like iterations of the same sports game every year, and/or driving games. I have one and I have about 5 games for it. I use it primarily as a DVD player in my room, but it has a few good games.

                            EVERY system and I do mean EVERY system, has it's share of gold. Some system's just have more. But every generation has it's best and worst, NES, SNES, PSX were the best of theirs, it remains to be seen which one comes out on top for this one. My point is to prevent what I think could be a this system is better than that system thread.

                                I Belive that the Final Fantasy 12 or FFX-2 will be pc/ps2 compatible in which you can play on either system against each other... or maybe its ff13 or w/e

                                The PS2 is actually a better set up for this because you dont have to go out and buy the remote for the PS2 you can just use the controller.

                                I was untill last year a Nintendo guy but have since gone to teh PS2 side........ and I admit I miss my mario games I love my PS2

                                one more point............ I havent play x-box live but I do know that online play with ps2 is alot cheaper........

                                heh..... just waiting for microsoft to come out with a TV and Stereo.
