the guy who knocks you out during an operation. it's a very delicate job because if the mixture is too potent, the patient will die... and if the mixture is too weak, the patient will be conscious and able to feel pain during the operation. add that with the fact that each patient's tolerance is different, so extra care must be given to walk that fine level of balance.

it's a very underrated job, but deservedly well-paid.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that these guys also go through the most school of anyone.

There's also a new machine that I heard of a while ago that's supposed to help out the anesthesiologist, that if they just keep their eye on a certain number, and keep it within a range..the patient should be all right. I haven't heard of it in a while...so I can't be so sure as to what the deal is now.

You're wrong... it's just a 5 year residency much like most other specialties in medicine I believe.

To be a neurosurgeon you need a phd and 7 years of residency... that's for sure the top of the top.

Surgeons make $65.89/ hr. A couple of years in a community college and you can be an auto mechanic making $70/hr! Plus however much you want to charge for parts and stuff that's not broken.

So, either you get dirty fixing machines...or you get bloody fixing people...I guess since people's lives are in jeopardy more so with surgery than cars..they should get paid more?

You might pay the auto shop $70/hr, but the mechanic himself is not pocketing anything close to that. More like starting at $10 up to $20.
