Boondock Saints is a good watch if you've never seen it.
It's not my favourite but it's proably one of the most 'unknown' Kevin Smith movies. I'll check that movie out, would they have it at Rogers Video (Considering you're Canadian too you know what Rogers is right ?)
it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did
I absolutely fucking love this community! Ask and ye shall receive. :]
Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I ended up watching Cecil B Demented. Check it out if you haven't seen it, great flick! I now have about a dozen movies or so written down out of all the suggestions. Now I won't be bored for the first couple weeks of the coming trimester, you know, the time you spend listening to professors read you a syllabus verbatim? =p
And as a final note, the best Kevin Smith movie ever is Chasing Amy, hands down.
Just because a movie was sucessful doesn't make it un-indie cops. I don't know enough about Amelie's production to say if it was really independant, but in America, all foriegn films are considered "indie"
I doubt Jason was looking to watch Gladiator or Braveheart. Chasing Amy was a kick ass movie, my dad has about 200-300 movies at his house but my vcr doesn't work. I went out trying to find Boondock Saints but I couldn't find it.
If anyone hasn't seen Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, you should. This movie is proably top 10 in my mind. It somehwhat follows the same genre as snatch. Actually I prefer these British films over anything else. If anyone knows any movies like lock stock and two smoking barrels or snatch then please tell me.

P.S. "Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter" is excellent
The issue of Indie vs non-indie is one thing, but I think the most important part of Jason's request was non-"mainstream Hollywood". Anyone who suggested something like the Matrix, Braveheart or Gladiator is someone whose spectrum of filmdom is too limited for what Jason's asking for, as those films are just about as mainstream and as Hollywood as you can get.

Actually Snatch came after Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels. Seen the TV series about Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels? It's pretty shitty, keeps repeating itself
Saw it a day when I was bored and had nothing to do but watch tv. It was really interesting, if a bit odd. By the same director who made Pigs and Battleships, The Insect Woman, The Pornographers
A Man Vanishes, The Profound Desires of the Gods and History of Postwar Japan as Told by a Bar Hostess. Now that's quality movietitles, I tell you!
You want to see a movie that will absolutely never make sense? I guarantee now matter how many times you watch it there will always be some degree of confusion.
