Is that not funny? Alot of tehir lyrics you'd have to look up because they're so angsty in their singing and you cant understand them.

So people who are depressed and emotional are funny? Personally I think the lyric you used is a great line.

Are they the only ones who's lyrics aren't easily understood? I listen to Linkin Park sometimes and a lot of their lyrics I can't understand. The same goes for rap.

People that are depressed are one thing, but guys in emo bands who are that depressed over some stupid chick are just ridiculous. Dude's probably coming up with these lyrics while he's bending some groupie over an amp in the back of their shitty tour van.

Emotional music just pisses me off, I know girls that still have their shitty abusive boyfriends from when they were 14 -16 and they can't let go of them or they broke up and 3-4 years down the road they're still depressed about not being with them. From most of my encounters with emotional music is that it displays an image about how you shouldn't let go of the ones you love and that how shitty people's lifes our. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this but when they market this type of music to young teens who in general don't have the intuition nor the fore sight to realize what love is and that what's being said is just a load of shit it usually can lead up to a bad situation or many for that matter.
it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

Yeah I know a lot of people who have abusive signifcant others too. For me emo music has helped me overcome problems with love and realize that there are other things than worrying about failed relationships. I do agree that it doesn't help young teens deal learning what love is. To simply dismiss the whole genre (if there is a solid definition of emo in the first place) is to dismiss a good new take on music, in my opinion.

For the record, I think Linkin Park sucks, but what you like is up to you.

and I just find it funny, because it's like he's completely obsessed iwth the chick. I have the CD, and I listen to it occasionally, but how can that help u? If anything it should make you suicidal.

See, you seem to think that dismissing "whiny high-pitched kid rock" is dismissing emo. Emo didn't start out being about high school relationships, and it's still not about that. You happen to listen to a sub-genre of emo that I would refer to as "dejected castrated boy music", and just because someone dismisses that as shitty doesn't mean they're neccessarily against emo.

And you know what I listen to how? Granted I've said I like Brand New, Taking Back Sunday and Linkin Park, but honestly you are making a generalization about something you have no clue about. GG

Good for you man, but how did you learn and realize about bigger problems by listening to problems that are minute at best? It's not like emo bands are singing about world starvation.

The same could be said for most music out there.

Well I'm not saying he should stop listenign to it because it doesn't have a good meaning behind it, but don't we listen to music that we can connect with? And as he said he doesn't listen to it for the meaning, instead it helped him see bigger problems. I guess he found something out of nothing.

And who are we to judge someone for that, let alone for their tastes in music.

I'm not cutting him up or even saying "hey dude you listen to mindless dribble" but what I am wondering is how he came to the realization that there's bigger problems out there well listening to emo. To be honest I tried to contemplate how listening to emo helped someone see bigger problems in the world, and the only explanation I came up with is that he realized what he was listening to didin't have a strong meaning behind it.
