I remember when i used to whatch Dragon Ball on PBS when i was younger, i think early 90s? late 80s? Now I see my nephew watching it, and it's not even cute anymore.
I was also being curious, and found a show that seems to try TOO hard to be cute.. I forget the name, it has gerbils in it, they live in a tree or something, and after everything they say, they put on this cliched face ^_^ Then there was big robots, I thought it was old school transformers, then I saw asian people driving them, and I knew it must be anime. From one episode, I noticed them constantly STANDING there in their cool looking robots, talking and yelling. Then when they FINALLY went into battle with their "gundarms" it was very dissapointing. It was basically just a slide show, and of course voice actors pretending to be out of breath, even though the ROBOTS are fighting, not the actual people.
Maybe it's just from growing up (i'm not THAT old), but it seems as though Anime has gotten so cliched and writers have no more plot lines left. Or maybe I just don't watch enough of it. I personaly think it's a waste of time, but so is writing this... hail hypocracy.
Then again, it's personal preference. Hell I listen to music that's hated or is stereotyped by 95% of the world, yet I listen to it no matter what people say, am I wasting my time? Maybe, but what the hell do I care?
