  • Webpage creation...what's the best?

What do you guys think is the best, or just a great and easy to use webpage creator program? I have Dreamweaver and Frontpage, is there anything better, what do you guys use?

If you don't really know the ins and outs of HTML and CSS, go with a WYSIWYG editor such as Dreamweaver. If you feel as though you've got a pretty good handle on things, notepad is all you need. (Or you can use Emacs if you're coding on a Linux box, like that weirdo arrogance.)

I'd get me one of those Studio MX for Dummies books to get started. Some of the fancier flash stuff isnt included in there, but it should be enough to create something neato.

Edit: for the real PADOW factor you can make a website thats completely flash, which isn't practical but looks best.

But that's probably not for everyone.

HTML-Kit is an editor for Windows with features that does stuff like split screen editor/preview panel. It knows asp/vbs and a bunch of other crap so you get pretty syntax formatting. Also I think when you mouse-over a function it will tell you what the parameters are.

If you don't want all that just get it for the editor/preview function. You can flip back and forth between editing and seeing what it looks like or split screen it. If the preview looks right it probably works on multiple browsers too (not just IE).

Using a "what you see is what you get" WYSIWYG editor is easier but you won't learn how the HTML works.

I'm not too familiar with coding in just something like notepad, but I figured that would take too much of my time. So I guess I should just stick with Dreamweaver

Textpad or Ultraedit owns VI and emacs!

Homesite is my personal favorite program. It's a very slick editor combined with some very basic WYSIWYG features and a viewer. It's made by a company that got bought out by Macromedia so I'm not sure if the newer versions are still called the same.

Im more for notepad, but textpad would pretty much be the same. The only reason I would use an editor is if I needed a page fast and didn't have the time to code one.

dreamweaver gets good results but if ur not a lazy ass mofo and you can understand that fucking annoying HTML code then notepad is good.
