  • Looking for advice

And since there are so many of you browsing these forums, I'll launch the following questions.

What are some good tips about TWBD?
    -Terrier help mostly
    -Why not use the WB?

I'll have more, and thank you in advance.

    Edit -
I'm looking to leaders for this advice.
As the co-leader of Data, I can determine who I desire to be part of my squadron. However, how should I go about when it comes to player arrogance?

    Thanks again.

i'd say watch some superstar terrs play and watch the timing of the ports and learn when and where to lay portals and when to warp etc.

burst spots you can learn on your own, practice solo terring in pub.

and for strategies about basing, i don't know any, or i'd be a basing champion.

i could write a book on this topic. ill give you a tip. it when a player becomes elite and then forgets about improving. players do this all the time, after they become known they sit around in spec half the time and play go base, get jaded, and join rejected basers. actually im kidding about the RB part, but still.. Rb doesnt need any help right now.. join a squad that could use you, first of all. second of all analyze while you play, and practice often, in more than one level. pub, go base, other zones. never stop improving.

A lot of people always say to go watch other people play in ?go base. What I've noticed is that those people never say what they should go and look for when watching.

First, if you want to look at specific ship skills, then do focus on someone who seems to be doing well. You might want to ask other people in spec for any particularly good players to keep an eye on. At the same time, don't just look at people who are good. Look at the players that aren't doing so good and try to see what they're doing wrong.

Likewise, if you want a broader look at things, if one team is struggling, try to see what they might be doing wrong. Are they missing something? Is their timing just a bit out of sync? Don't just focus on what people are doing right. If you figure out what others are doing wrong, that might be more helpful.

If you want to learn to terr, go watch Pure_Luck warportal, Mythrandir and Brookus. They all have strengths you'll want to incorporate in to your game.

Terring is just as much about tactics as it is about ship skills though. You'll want to watch some TWBD matches for that stuff. Look for where those terrs position themselves, and where they set their ports. Also think about respawning timing, and how to cooperate with your sharks.

you can see, if you're watching. you see where they warp to...

and unless there's some serious pubbing going on you're not going to want to go to pub to watch people base, seeing as how it's mostly wbs and javs.

But pub is where you practice shots, and learn bursts and stuff.

Pub is also where you learn to dodge warbirds and rocket javs. I solo in pub to practice dodging, much more challenging then ?go base.

I concur. In ?go base it's easy to be a bounty whore and dodge others and go for rec. In pub, it's more likely that you can get sniped by the random warbird/jav/levi.

I've played this game 1 year now, and I have never went to BASE.

Why? Cause most of the people there are quite snobby and not friendly. No point in sticking around for 30mins to pray and hope they pick you.

I have come to this conclusion: pub0 purebasing > BASE
                          -friendlier people usually
-you can chose what ship you want.

Then if your picked, you have no choice what ship you wana use. Usually you get stuck playing with a sh!tty little spider.

When I base, I like to use Warbird only. I don't have time or interest at this time to focuss on mastering other ships.

Maybe they should have a BASE game with just warbirds; atleast you have to fight your way to the flag room, rather then using the cheap TERRIER FR anchor.

                          Basic Tips:

Figure out what ship you wana master or you find most enjoyable.
Determine what is your main focus in TW: BASING or DUELING.

Learn the basics of your chosen ship and gain experience with it. Persevere and don't give up, if you lose, learn from it and don't repeat silly mistakes.

Yes, Watch and Learn (SPEC) good players, they should be pretty easy to pick out (there the ones with more kills than deaths). Analyze them and see what works for them.

Also if your into basing, its good to be aware of what the other ships are capable of and their weaknesses.

It's entirely upto you whether you want to improve in this game, some friendly players might help train you if they have the time and you show patience/potential and interest. But make sure you test their tips out, they could be just lieing to you...use common sense.

There is no TIP anyone on here anyone can give you, to make you a overnight wonder. It will take most people many nights/days of playtime experience to develop a good skill with a particular ship. If you decide to take long breaks from the game (even 4 days no playing will affect you); make notes on what you learn..so you don't forget anything.

Another thing don't read chat while you play too much or take what people say to you seriously. Some people just try to tease and get you mad so you make a fool of yourself.

I'd like it if you could see ones energy, amount of bursts/reps/ports left and etcetera. I always like to watch how my friends conserve their energy while spidering and things like that. (And I like to laugh at the team that can't kill brookus when he's emp'd at 5 in the ear )

Wise, if you really want to play ?go base then just hanging around for 5 mins and asking to play is the wrong way of doing it and most people will be snobby if you ask.

You have to build up a reputation for yourself in the basing comunity and show the regular ?go base players what you can do. The same thing goes if you want to play something either then spider. It's all about how much time you want to waste waiting to get in and playing well if someone wants to take a chance on you, but then again it's better then getting the hourly intake of 550 "STFU" and trash talk from the public players.
