How can you build a reputation if no one picks you?
So then you will have to sit there silently for ages hoping that someone notices you not speaking.

    I'd rather play pub.

That's why you have to wait for someone to take a chance on you and yes it will take a long time i'm not disputing that, it is your choice on what you want to play. But asking/annoying the players there will not get you in any faster neither will asking nicely if anything. ?go base in my opinion has far better game play and gives new players a chance to get into better squads (if they want to) and get a better knowledge of the game.

I didn't get picked at #myth for a long time until they didn't have enough players (IE: players they would rather have on a line up) and some caps decided to let me play.

I have come to this conclusion: pub0 purebasing > BASE
        -friendlier people usually
-you can chose what ship you want.

Then if your picked, you have no choice what ship you wana use. Usually you get stuck playing with a sh!tty little spider.
Just out of curiosity, if you've never been to ?go base, then how do you know its like that? As a solution if you want to play in ?go base:When the game has about 1minute left over, type something along this line ?help ?go base will be over shortly, so were going to need someone to start it, and I'd like to play so maybe you could make me captain? thanks
Thats just a solution you can try if you want to play in base. As for the snobby part, just turn your chat off with ?lines=0 or escape F4 (I believe) it might be F5. You can even use ?ignore because I highly doubt every person in ?go base is rude. If you want to get better at basing then play in ?go base, play in pubs and join a newbie basing squad and get better. Like many others said just watching people play in ?go base will definately help you atleast a little.

P.S. Make sure you ask ahead of time how to cap in ?go base if you dont know, and make sure your fairly quick about picking people to keep the game flow going good.

If you REALLY want to get picked. Come into ?go base when there are like 15 people..that pretty much guratees it. Plus, if you do good, you'll get picked next game, etc. etc.

                I do appreciate it.

What are your opinions on the BEST way to pick up players for a squadron?

I'm pretty sure some of the great basers from any ship play in Purebase pub once in a while. They may recruit you from seeing how you play there or people will pick you in ?go base for your reputation as a great _____ player in pub 0. If you want to learn how to base, join Quirion. We're the sister squad of BasingCrew who give us lessons on how to base in league matches and in ?go base. The point is to get the necessary skill and routinely play in pub0 or ?go base so that when Captains see you more often, they'll pick you.

You can't always be lucky... but the first people you want to look to join are the people that want to join YOUR squad... not have you as a backup squad if they can't make it to some other squad... those are the people that are going to help your squad the most and to let it prosper.

Second, look for someone that is active. As well with loyalty, you can't always be lucky to pick up HUGE talent, but if they're active and willing to get better, then they're usually better than someone with talent already that hardly plays.

Last, if you can't find a combo of these two, or even one... then perhaps you should let someone on your squad that will perhaps make your squad look good... someone that's an advertiser, he/she might not be the loyalist person, but he/she will attract those squaddies that you want in the long run.

Arrogant people... as long as they don't bring your whole squad image down, keep them. Sometimes it's fun to have them, sometimes it can become a nusiance... it's really up to you to keep them or not... but remember, even it's a good player, never let anyone bring your squad's integrity and morale down.

Actually I rarely go into BASE arena, I have before and specced just to see how it is. I never went in there whining to get picked, I waited several times silently to get picked, but no one did. So I just took off and found arenas in the game that bring me fun and acceptance. I'm quite content with pub0 basing or twbd on rare occassions; I've dedicated alot of my focus into dueling..so I frequent ELIM, Wbdueling, or if DUEL gets back up...there too.

Its quite interesting, different cliques or groups of online players gather in certain arenas. Just most of the people I know hang out in Duel arenas. Like I rarely see you Kolar in elim or wbduel, but I sometimes see you in Pub0.

I respect the versatility of some players, they can play everywhere (or any ship) at a good skill level. But some of these players have played this game much longer than I, so I guess they experimented with other ships.

Honestly, I find it hard to climb into another ship, just so use to the warbird. Many others are in the same boat as me, they just get frustrated using other ships. To seriously get good with other ship types, would shift my ambition to improve my dueling skill level for the warbird and I can't risk that at this time.

Yeah try to get a mainly twdd squad to get into twbd, omg, its almost next to impossible to motivate people to get interested. I guess for the mainly twbd squads its like that too, they don't like to twdd much either.

Obviously, the twbd squads practice with ?go base, and the twdd squad practice with ?go wbduel or elim.

To each his own, all I'm saying focus on what brings you the most fun, thats what its all about.

Sorry if I insulted some friendly people in ?go Base, I was just frustrated and didn't have the patience to stick around.
