Teach me to duel better!

Hi, im Rakketo and im probably the worst dueler i know, i really wish i could be better as a warbird, because i usually lose duels 5-0 or 5-1, once i came out victor 5-2 but that was a rare occurence. Please, all suggestions and help would be greatly appreaciated, thanks.

use shift to trust and DODGE incoming bullets.

Tip: Run and Vulch and you will win a lot easier.

Another tip: Pracitce. Try different techniques, different styles etc.

For some reason, not moving works very well nowadays. People can't shoot at a stationary target like they used to be able to back in the day. Weird.

The link above is a fairly recent post on these forums that i'm sure 95% of these forum readers have already seen. For the guy who posted this thread: you may want to read through the above link and look for something that may help you. In the end, it just takes practice. Try not to get frustrated and stay alive. If you cant kill someone very well, just try to stay alive, kill oportunitines should present themselves if you dodge long enough

That thread is nonsense.

Just work on dodging. Always be in control of your ship, don't let your momentum carry you into shit, keep your movement in control and minimized except for bursts to avoid shots, see the shots coming and know what you're going to be doing before they even shoot and unless they do something completely wacky or lag like hell you'll have no trouble dodging it, if they do then it's reflexes time. Then get some aim and shoot them.

Some people just suck at video games though. If that's your case I suggest you look into basing.

What is your res? If you have a poor res, trust me, you won't win many duels against the better players who have superior res. Nothing you do will work. Now if you have high res, just have some patience. Keep dueling, eventually you'll find your style and you will start winning.

better dueling

a tip for the novice dueler would be to simply wait until your opponent shoots at you before shooting back. you should be dodging until they shoot at you and then take advantage of their momentary weakness.

it really takes practice i suggest going into a pub zone and picking fights with some of the wbs that hang around the spawn areas, they usually are not too good and once you learn to own them you can move to better wbs in elim.

you really have to find a technique that fits with your personality/style, people like Raspi and Jack kiefer like to be very patient and not rush, they simply shoot at a distance and allow the kills to rack up. Then there are others like stab and Blood who prefer to rush their opponents. All the people i mentioned are very good duelers and each have different styles that work for them.
