What is your res? If you have a poor res, trust me, you won't win many duels against the better players who have superior res. Nothing you do will work. Now if you have high res, just have some patience. Keep dueling, eventually you'll find your style and you will start winning.

Tip: Run and Vulch and you will win a lot easier.

This won't win you games against good people.

Tip: PLAY the guy. That's the best way to become a good player.

Cig Smoke once showed me how to warbird duel back when squad dueling in private arenas was the trend.

Accordingly, I am one of the worst warbirds you will ever find. (Good luck figuring that one out.)

Some people just suck at video games though. If that's your case I suggest you look into basing.
