Why doesn't Priitk work a little check where you cannot get into Continuum if you have any other programs running, or target the programs that are known to be causing the lag cheating. If you alt-tab out to be in chat, you can use them again, but it checks once you come back in and will close Continuum if you have stuff running you arent supposed to be after you alt-tab back in. I'm am seeing more and more lag being generated than ever before. Hell, Pirates had no lag before beginning of TWL season, and now look at them. If you had this type of lock in place, at least I could live with the fact that some ppl just have crappy connections and can't do anything about it. But that's gotta be only 10% of the lag that's going on today. I'm sick and tired of this shit. It totally ruins all the fun in TW and something needs to be done about it.

PriitK is probably pretty busy writing other programs to care about his little pride and joy continuum. However, I do agree with you that something should be done. If someone else could write the program that would be wonderful.

Is lag really that bad? There isn't lag when it counts, TWL. So who cares its just a game, but yes i do complain about lag but I get over it.

Yes lag is an issue in this game and always will be. The limits are constantly getting lowered and lowered each year (in twl) which excludes more and more ppl due to location/bad connections. Certain things that ppl cant help but have. I agree if a person is running kazaa or have XP and have 2+ clients open at once then yes it should be detected and somethign done, but i dont think u can really tell the differences all the time. Sometimes u can see if someone is cheating or downloading, then sometimes u cant.

They can tell if your multiclienting. I'm always randomly talking to rodge and he says "bots tell me theres a multiclient, brb" and he leaves, deals with it and comes back

Multiclient won't cause lag... But d/l will, so I dont really care about multiclients. Alright, if lag is less of a problem in TWL, then move those lag limits to Elim. These double standards are dumb.

It's quite possible to do what MetalKid is asking. How do you think Anti-Cheat stuff works for games like Counter-Strike? They look for other programs running and boot you from the server if they see anything that looks like a trainer/wallhack/aimbot/etc.

I think this is an excellent idea.

Reasons I don't think it'd work:

It would increase the minimum specs needed to run the game.
It would have to be kept constantly up to date.
If it goes off a name, change the name of the executable, and you can change the way it can appear in your processes.
I don't want to be told I can't have an Instant Messenger on while I'm playing around in a pub.
Pretty much fucks up the idea of listening to TW Radio and playing in ?go radio at the same time.

It seems like an unecessary hassle. On paper it sounds good, but in practice, I don't think it'll do half as much in especially league games as would refs simply cracking down. Yes some innocent people would get tagged too, and people would bitch, but eventually people would get the hint that if you even look like you're purposely lagging in a hosted game, be prepared to be specced.

Multiclienting does cause lag. If u have 10+ clients open u can barely stay in the game.

And jerome all u do is open them in different zones, u dont add them all in TW n00bo

This isnt a bad idea, but im confused on a few things. I meawn if u cant get in the game if u got a program running does that include programs like AIM? ICQ? YAHOO? and so on? or just lag cheat programs/kazaa and so on. I mean i know myself and others included jsut like to log on SS and use it as a chat proggy, and d/l talk on aim/icq at the same time. Kind of sucky if u cant do both :X Maybe im jsut confused what he means tho.

Yea, often people log in just to sit in spec talking, it's extra hassle if you have to close stuff, load up SS, alt tab out and then load it all back up again.

I don't think anybody is playing this game on a 486. A guy with a faster comp than that can handle the 500KB memory usage increase.

I don't think this'd happen unless you play TW Radio with Kazaa Media Player. I don't think that's even possible.

It's a shame it isn't like this. I think the refs should just .?buy balls and start speccing people. The refs usually just don't get the support they need on e.g. the forums, they always get the flames.

You would have to block any Messaging program... Why you ask? YOu can u/l and d/l files thru those things as well, so you can still cause lag.

Though, what we could do is only make the check if you are in certain arenas. Im sure that's possible. And then if you try to go there and you have that stuff running, it will just send you back to where you came from. People can change the name of the EXEs, but the process will still be what is hardcoded into the EXE file, so that won't be a big deal.

The other alternative might be for Priitk to somehow increase the BW priority of Continuum so it is Ultra-High, meaning other things will give way to Continuum. If he could do that, then we wouldn't have to worry about shit.

Personally, i thought eatting wasn't even close to as bad on the OLD original subspace client (ya ya we got new features etc blah blah). Those were the days when sub was fun. I didn't even use the continuum client till all the zones basically forced us to use it.
