Death threads get closed. Which part of the above quote does it fall under?
They arent unlawful, threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane, indecent - and how can it be objectionable to tell people he may be dead when you cant talk to half the people who may know someone. Say I know someone that died - noone knows I do - how will I know?

The problem is not that staff doesn't want people to express their grief. The issue is that nearly all of the reply contain a pithy "RIP" followed by some doubt as to whether the death is true or not. It's not the topic that is the reason that staff closes these threads; it's the responses.

I know people want to mourn a loss, but when most of the posts spend just 3 letters on "mourning" and much more about it being fake, then the thread is not about mourning. Heck, I personally find it indecent for people to say a death is faked. I mean, in a recent thread, people went so far as to research local news sites to find evidence, and when it gets that far, it's not only indecent, it's disrespectful and more than just a little bit ghoulish.

At the very least, you get two possible outcomes:
    1. The person IS deceased, so people accusing the situation of being faked are being libelous; or
    2. The person isn't deceased, so the people who started the hoax are being libelous.

You can make a case substituting "libelous" for "obcene" or "indecent" in either outcome.

See if the mods would say that instead of just saying:
      Dont post these again
      Closed

It would clear up a lot of the grievances against certain staffers for closing them.

Thats the first time ive seen it explained; it should be put in the rules at least so all theyd have to do is link it then people can read - I just wanted to know which part of the rules the death threads weren't following, and i hadnt seen one case of an explanation yet (they can get long and drawn out with people debating (part of the reason they get closed, im assuming now))and i didnt feel like sifting through who knows how many threads looking for specific examples

              Lol.

Look the deal is if people care about someone enough to know that they died they'll find out. I'm happy that these stupid "death threads" are closed. They're just that: stupid. Do your grieving on your own with other people that actually cared about the person, not with a bunch of people who could give a shit.
