If someone decideds to Quit SS...forever, instead of waiting for tht name to reset i think it would be good if the user leaving could ?retire <name> instead, giving people the opportunity to get the name rather than waiting years(depending on its usage) for it.

I have to 100% disagree. I'm never gonna give up my name, but my parents kinda banned me from playing continuum. (could have use forbidden, but I am addicted after all
)
This post is almost like a "im quitting ss forever" thread by some newb, but I'm actually bugging my parents about trying to get me able to play again. I will still make maps and graphics so I can still have some connection to the game. Well, I'll see you guys when I come back. I guess now, I can pay full attention to my high school career.Comment

Yeah, this is a terrible idea. No one is going to use it. If someone quit after 5 years of playing, they sure as hell aren't going to ?retire their name so that some retard can make the name and pretend to be you.sdgComment

It sounds like a good idea, but after playing for years with a certain alias, who really wants it to be gone to some name trader. I think that Ewan was trying to get at that they could .?retire the alias, and make it again with their own LOSTpassword, because you can steal and change pw with the setting that are used already. I just know i don't want to give up my alias when i feel the need to stop playing.Comment

Eh, why not limit the number of names per IP? Say 5 or so, that gives the name freaks names to play with and keeps it sane. Plus it keeps people from hording 50 names for no reason. Stick to at MOST 2 solid names, heh. Otherwise you are border-line schizophrenic.

Because you cannot use an IP address for anything like that. Reason? Many broadband users (DSL mostly) have a dynamtic IP address that changes every time they log onto their ISP.sdgComment
