Alrighty, that's cool. I think a forum I use does use the rewrite extension and turns it's php files into html files (like forum.com/t56-topic-name.html) and I just wanted to play around with it, but if it's too much of a risk then it's definitely not worth it =p

It basically "rewrites" files, hence the na,me mod_rewrite. In the specific case I want to use it for, you can take a topic (example: forums.org/index.php?t=2987456437 gives you a topic called "This topic is about topics") and rewrite it into an HTML file with it's name in the file. So instead of index.php?t=297364572435, you get to goto /this-is-the-name0of-the-topic.html

In the specific way I want to use it...Blogging. Instead of going to blog.com/index.php?id=23, you can goto blog.com/archive/name-of-topic.html
