What's making someone a VET ??

What's making someone a "vet" ??
Is it his time of playing this game ?? How many years ?? 3 ? 4 ? 5 ? 6 ? ...
Is it his leetness ?? He steps up every game and goes 30-5 in DD's or JD's or owns up a BD ??
Is it its being well known ?? If anyone mentions that name, everybody knows him ??
Is it its popularity ?? Every arena the vet enters everybody is like "Hey, mr. vet. How are you today, sir?" ??

Now tell me.. what is making someone a vet ?? And don't start bragging like a dumb newb "Look at me, Im a vet."

For me, I think it's a combination of all things listed above making someone a vet. A vet should be really skilled, which makes him become widely known. Alot of people wanna be 'close' to a skilled player, so that's how he/she gets his popularity. And ofcourse.. you have to been playing for a long time, so you know alot of ppl yourself too and you need time to become skilled. I don't think anyone owns in this game after 2 days.

So what do you guys think about it ?

a vet is pretty much someone who knows what they are doing, but usually they are awxsome at it.

I dunno... that's kinda tough question I think, because so many people will have different opinions and personalities on the subject( 'll explain in a second ). I think anyone can be described as a vet by how long they have been around and actually grew as a player. But then, you have people in the game that no matter how good or how long you have been around they won't give anyone respect, because they are too much of an asshole or don't know any better. And then the question comes along, are you only a vet if you spread out from pub or not, I don't think myself a vet, I know of the game pretty well I think( I certainly think differently than most pubbers since I don't cry lame, laggot, newb, ez, spawner, etc after every kill/death ), and my skill level is average, depending on the ship I use, so being a vet could also just be how one thinks and looks at the game?

Mattey can aswell be described as a vet.(his sig is showing it ) And he's cool Allthough few days ago .?find mattey -> Not online, last seen more than 10 days ago.
I think of Blood and banzi as a vet aswell ofcourse. I think they are the prototype of being a vet. While blood hasn't been playing for 5 years I believe. He's just awesome.
But there are people who have been playing this game for 10 yrs and are still unknown without a good level of skills. They aren't seen as vets I believe.

(just a funny thing I wanted to mention: Spidermage saying "I know of the game pretty well I think" Sorry but I've just read your topic about the spider bullets. And that makes me think you don't know alot really.. (that's my opinion, I might be wrong so don't feel offended) ).

How do you prove vet-ness, eh?

-When a vet loses at elim, they were never trying anyways.
-When a vet wins at elim, it was easy as pie.
-Whenever a vet dies, they respond in laughter, apparently vets think it's funny when they die.
-Or, whenever a vet dies, they become tired and begin to yawn, alot. On average 1 per death.
-Or even, whenever a vet dies, they are apparently "newbed". They in fact state that a player "lesser" than them has successfully killed them, and no matter how many times more the "newb" kills the "vet", it is still always "newbed".
-Vets never have numbers, underscores, or other symbols in their names.
-Vets never communicate with players below their skill level outside of "ez", "newbed", "racial slur", etc*
-Part B to the said above: you must be lonely.

I'm not saying that players who have been around the game for a while can't be nice or whatever, I've met my share of cool people. But generally, the players who call themselves "vets" fall into one of those actions if not more or all.

Anywayzz, I think those are more signs of "wannabe vets". Just people who are trying so hard to become good and leet but actually won't ever be.
I think blood is pretty cool actually. But someone like Raspi actually fits perfectly into that description of you, dameon.

Well, seriously now. By definition a Veteran is someone who sucessfully survived a war or some sort of military thing. I'm not 100% sure if this can officially apply in civillian activities, but anyways. By definintion Veterancy should goto someone who's been in TWL, not necessarily win, just been in it, cause that's the biggest league that we have to offer.

I would also say if you've been here before Continuum came out, you could say you're a veteran of Subspace, and before that a Veteran of Sniper.

Being in TWL doesnt make you vet. Or you should have won it.
Alot of ppl been there, no vets. You can aswell get in TWL with a newb squad, it's not very hard to become top 15 TWDD. The top 5 are good squads. Than there are 2 squads invited i think. So 7 open spots for average sqds to fill up.

I havent been here before Continuum came out, and never heard of Sniper
But I think that's not important. I think if you've been playing for 10+ yrs you're just rather "old school" than "vet".
But I believe everybody has a diff opinion.. so share it with us !!!
