is it me or is there a huge surge of xs. tried out the new xs and they seem to work great....it's just the xradar part that bugs me. Now you cant surprise attack another x. the sad part of this, just like the new lanc settings, few people seem to take advantage of them and they still suck under the new imo more powerful settings. yet there are those who seem to take advantage of of such as father leiper and weabird. and those spwned the hell outta each room eg specced weabird and watched him take down 3wbs and 2terriers hunting him at the same time at the right safe UNBALANCED????????

HAHAHA!!
I love the new settings. X vs Terrier duels are now a reality, and its bittersweet fun to watch all the terriers I own get all hot after they lose a duel
Oh and dont worry about father leiper and weabird.....I've already owned them
Now..im off to challenge and defeat more Terriers

Hi, I'm a long time Trenchwars player and I've always enjoyed flying around in my x. Recently, they've been changed to no longer have a rocket speed burst and now have x-radar. I hate both of those changes!
First, the speed burst x's had made them a little less predictable and made xing a lot more fun. What's more fun then sneaking close to a leviterr and rocket into them before they have time to move??
The second change, giving x's x-radar is another change I disagree with. A fun part of being an x was sneaking up on other x's when they were recharging or guessing where they will be based on their going after your teammates, or going after the flag or going through a crack, etc. It's also fun times to go after an enemy only to be surprised when another enemy x beats you to it.
Anyway, it's my opinion that both changes to the weasel don't do much except for make the ship less fun. Maybe someone explain to my why the changes were made. I don't think that the speed burst was overpowered by any stretch of the imagination. I also don't understand why they would get x-radar at all.
Also, what other changes were made? Are they faster or have better energy? I might agree with a slight speed boost, but that's about it. I don't want my ship to become grossly overpowered. Mostly I think they were fine as they were.
By the way, with the old settings, I could often pull a 2:1 win ratio with the cloaker even with an aggressive let-it-all-hang-out play style. If you make x's too much better, the game will be boring for me.Last edited by boofhead; 10-17-2004, 07:21 PM.

The new settings have considerably changed the styles of most x players and caused an wave of new spawners. The new x players (those who have switched to this ship because of its recent changes) tend to be more careless in their moves than the more patient old timers. And with the new xradar upgrades, they feel all the more at ease when they decloak to charge. With this said, I really wished that the xradar be removed to instill upon every player that sense of suspense---that at any time there might another x stalking them. but then it's also quite fun to have x duels.
The loss of rockets is no big deal, boofhead. You can just buy them (up to 3) in the safe. The faster nrg charge makes up for the rocket and if you're a skilled x you can almost make the bullets go as fast as the rocket boosted ones. It takes a while to get used long range attacks with the x, such as as sprout said, radar spawns.

One last thing, do you guys think the faster x is overpowered? I'll still have to test it more to figure it out for myself, but it would be interesting to see what others think.

Ok, I just tried out the new cloaker a little more.
It's way, way, overpowered. It really is.
This is coming from a cloaker specialist who's played about a year of TW mostly as a cloaker. The new cloakers are way, way overpowered. I wouldn't have minded if they were just a tad faster than before, but this is way too much.
My final judgement is for them to go back to how they were before and perhaps speed them up very slightly. And please take away x-radar from them.
