In 2002 I had sent in a ?help call that went something like this:

?help How long do ?messages stay in an ss account after they've been accessed and before they've been accessed.

One of the <ER>'s back then told me to ask a sysop or something like that.

So....... Does anyone have any idea what the set time for ?messages are?

Before you read them: Forever. You can actually message a name and the message will stay even if the name is reset. If someone makes the name again, they can read the ?message
After you read them: Actually I'm not sure now. They last a little while, probably 24 hours?

And by the way, sending a ?message to yourself is a good way to remind yourself of something. :P

I hate it when you can only send one message at the time, if you matter is bigger then 3 lines of text, and when you don't have the other ones e-mail.. :'(

i hate it when u message someone and type all the way to the end with one word left. and then robo pm's u and says, send complaints to complaints@...

I think you're typing ?help not ?message, robohelp can't read your ?messages.

I think messages you have read stay there until you next log out. (If I was home, I would be able to confirm)

No they last longer than that. I guess it's a few hours but you can definately read a message, log out, and it will still be there (but you won't get a notice for it when you log in again).

you can't send a ?message to non-existant accounts anymore

I don't know if anything has changed, but I had messages that were weeks old before. Like once I went a year without playing, and when I came back I had messages that were about 2 months old.
