I don't know about that, TK. I used to hate Sharking in base but recently I've (and I'm sure some would argue this!) improved quite a lot. I can get plenty of kills, and while I do sometiems teamkill, I've noticed that the majority of the time it's not directly my fault - For example a friendly Spider will be sitting on my mine then whine when he dies when it's repped.
In pub, I get very frustrated as I get teamkilled a lot, and while hardly anyone plays Shark, as soon as you get in one, there seems to be 3+ on your team. Meaning you can't mine. Which is frustrating. <_<
Edit: That said, what is it that you feel people love about Sharking, anyway?Last edited by Rion.; 12-22-2004, 11:20 AM.G[y]Ro> omfg

Well, if you look at the reasons people stated for why they like sharks, it has nothing to do with TKs or even number of kills, but rather on how they get those kills. In base, the Sharks' primary objective is to repel and defend. It's secondary objective is to get kills. If you don't even have the base then how often you kill drops dramatically. In pubs you can be as aggressive as you want and you don't have as many limitations weighing on you. You'll also see more one-on-one opportunities between your shark and an enemy. Plus there also aren't as many spiders spraying the air with bullets in pub, and I would say that spider fire hinders sharks much more than it affects any other ships.

Fair enough, but I personally find it very satisfying in base when things happen like a Shark repping four of my mines and then forgetting / dying as I watch the opposing team be showered with spinning blue doom. Things like that don't happen in pub.
You don't really get teamfers in pub, either.
And killing Terriers is much more difficult and feels more rewarding in base.

Not to mention the whole ?go base sharking deal means you have to be spot on all the time there, or you have invariably someone screeching like a hyena. Otherwise known as the reason I don't play there.
Fuckers act like a ?go base game is the only thread that is keeping their dangling baby from falling into a pit of fire. That much pressure and resentment is about as much fun as a chili pepper enema. No thanks.
I love basing, I love the idea and the practicalities of the game, it's just a shame militant teenagers have to bring what seems like a good idea, down."Sexy" Steve Mijalis-Gilster, IVX

Weasel. I love the whole cloak-and-dagger thing, and even when you fly vis they're a blast. The most fun is to be found in targetting terrs and other cloakers, of course.
Also, shark. More than any other ship it requires you to take your opponent's inelligence and skill into consideration. (At least in pub, I'll be damned if I shark in base.)FREE MANDELA
