Other Zones?

Started off in EG for a few months, eventually got bored of the monotonous gameplay (and they changed the map). Stopped playng SS for a few months. Came back, thought I'd try TW as it had the most people, from then on was addicted. I would occasionally drift into T3G, HZ or Ground Warfare (Does this exist anymore?) but spent 90% of my time in TW.

Played in MG CTF for a bit when I was DaMeoN aNgeLL <ER>. I just did squad duels and crap with some squad I got into. But the lifespan of a squad there is so short, it isn't funny. The hosted events were fun cause of the small amount of players who played. That's where I got the idea for "True Elim" from, actually. I play EG or DSB on occasion when Skeptical drags me away from TW. Oh, and Scrabble in ASWZ is fun.

Indeed it is. It's similar to EG, but just generally better.
It's also similar to TW as everyone hates Levi & cloaker. :grin:

The only negative point is the fact that it's not a highly populated zone, sometimes only 30ish people.

I used to be mod in RS but I got booted for going on holiday for a week. Its an alright zone.

used to play philosophy zone and warzone but after I returned when this was freeware I didn't recognize any zones so I picked the one with most people. I only leave every now and then to TWDev and whatever the zone is that has scrabble (something with warzone in it's name).

someone recommended subspace to me and said go to tw. so i played there. after a year or so, or when tw was down i played T3 Guantlet, 17th parallel, and EG. i've also played Star Warzone, but got bored. :P

i started out in chaos zone and i got sick of not finding enough people there and not being able to kill enough people. after a few weeks i picked tw because it had the most players.

now that i more skilled i go back to chaos zone a lot, but i am not great at it. its fun though. i also played dsb heavily for a while.

Dude basiclly every zone has shit pub. Public arenas suck, once you realize that this game will be more fun for you.

Best scrim arena/squad/league zones in Subspace from personal experience as of now are:

Hockey Zone, you have MSHL RSHL, squads for all skill levels of players. And a permanent scrim arena, as well as multiple game and scrim arenas up all the time.

Chaos Zone, AML, IML, Pro , 2v2 , 1v1 and Chaos League. And usually always 4+ scrim arenas open all the time. Has the largest assortment of squads in Subspace and the largest skill range. Any player who starts off Subspace here will be good in every other zone. Simply for the basic skills you have to learn here to be good, in which other zones are considered highly advancedm such as TW.

Powerball , Powerball, Pro and Cash League. Haven't played there in a few seasons so don't know if any of those leagues have changed or if they have any new ones. Again fun zone, tons of prac and scrim arenas always open.

Those are the best 3 zone hosting leagues, TW is ok but it's a zone for simpler players who lack the indepth coordination skills for a better zone. I only play base out of boredom of 4 years of those other zones. I've only played TW for about 5-6 months in total, but I love base because of the tactical relation it has to Infantry CTF.

Anyways, yeah try those zones out.

If you're looking for some neg killing, Alpha and Chaos are good zones for that. You also had United League which was some euro trash SVS zone but it was hosted by euros, so it was pure lag and was deleted GG EZ EUROS 1 FOR AMERICA.

And you have Warzone CTF, but like all other flagging leagues/zones in SS, theres no diversity there. Thats why Trench Wars has the best basing concept in TW. Yeah TW has something good about it

my buddy was playing trench wars as joethebum back in 2000, i started playing it when id go to his house, then finally downloaded subspace in early 2001.

even then, all my other friends i showed it to said it was a stupid 2 game and it sucks. i still get that "wow youre still playing that stupid game?" everytime my friends see me play it.

of the 40 people i convinced to give it a try, only 1 liked it

Apt, you've obviously not been in many zones. Public Arenas in a lot of zones are all that arena has due to their population, and they're very good. I rarely play Trench Wars anymore, I've instead gone back to Star Warzone and RedStar. The whining in Trench Wars has annoyed me, and I'm sick of having to do ?nopubchat. Anyway, these zones are much more enjoyable.

Lol you serious, Pub in Redstar and SWZ? Fucking joke haha. Super ship zones require no skill, it's whoever hits control first wins. SWZ Flagging is mindless shooting off walls and hoping your team shoots more bombs and you take their flags, same thing as WZCTF and most other flagging zones on SS.

I've played every zone in subspace long enough to know whether it's good or not.

I stared out way back in the VIE Alpha and Chaos zone, but really didn't like it because I am more fond of the instant gradification that a 1 shot kill zone brings... So eventually I found a Paintball zone. It was one shot kills and was loads of fun (though, the bullets were very slow compared to TW). Then paintball went down and a friend of mine showed me Trench Wars... I fell in love with it immediately and played pub for about 2-3 years. Then I went to elim for about 2 years (haven't exactly left it yet, either), and then TWD/TWL finally came along. I'm happy. I've tried DSB, SVS, etc, but it seems like too much work to have to constantly hit people with bullets (who can just as easily dodge/run away from them). Also, no other zone has anything like TWD, where the league is fully automated. That'll keep me around for ages (as soon as I get a good connection...).

Do you play any zones apart from Trench Wars?

Did you originally play other zones, and "migrated" to Trench Wars upon discovering it?

I've been playing Trench Wars pretty much exclusively for a bit over a year now, and I thought I'd have a look around. I've spent a bit of time in Death Star Battle, but the only thing that really attracts me there is the duelling.

I went to Extreme Games and found it interesting to watch them base, but I didn't have much fun playing it. Bullets are really short ranged which is annoying.

Metal Gear CTF is fun once in a while, but I quickly tire of it.

I only recently tried out the Alpha/Chaos zones though, and found them quite fun. It is my understanding that these are the zones where Subspace "all began", and it's interesting to see how different they are from Trench Wars.

Trench Wars completely ignores the upgrading/downgrading process of "greening", while it's quite important in these older zones.

There seems to be a lot less killing in them - Of course in Trench Wars it's one-hit-kill with most ships, so I suppose that's why.

I'm sure most of the ooold players were around before Trench Wars even came about and VIE was still alive or whatever... Maybe they could tell some stories. :turned:

true eg is not fun for those without a solid squad unless ur new to the game and the zone and take joy in being ignorant to the big picture

other zones also u could make up excuses why their not fun unless ur part of their league system
