Ending racism

Recently I was thinking about all the problems tw has with racism and how to handle racism. I was thinking, what if it could be so that whenever you open continuum there is a menu and a place to be able to put words that offend you such as the n word. Then in the game cont. would auto-block those words...kinda like another obscene.txt strictly for words that offend you. This would mean that if people were spamming/pming racist words the victim would be able to handle the situation themselves without bringing a staff member into the situation. Seemingly the only downside to this is it would have to be PriitK to apply this and who knows when he'll pop up again. Just a thought please comment.

agreed with TK. Plus this isn't TW's problem. Its Continuum, so you can't talk to TW people about it, but i guess you could get comments and ideas.

let's be more realistic about the situation. stop trying to classify using quote-unquote "racist" words as actual racism. 99% of the time someone uses the N-word they aren't racially slurring anyone, especially since other players actual color/heritage are usually unknown.

just as the definition of the word 'gay' has also meant homosexual (instead of simply 'happy'), ill and sick now can also mean awesome and queer can mean homosexual (instead of simply 'odd'), the n-word and many other racial slurs accomodate themselves synonymously with 'brother', 'friend', among other positive things or as a sort of all-purpose insult.

using a racially associated word isnt racism unless it's contextual. stop crying over symantics and playing victim and learn to use the ignore list if the rare occurance of a truly racist player harassing you does happen.

I still don't see why they un- banned you, using racism to pump some life back into these forums is pretty fucking sad and shows you how bad these forums have got. Way to live up to expectation and play the class clown role, you're not one to disappoint.

It would be a great idea to make an obscene.txt or ignore2.txt to filter out racism and comments you would rather not hear. Maybe a pre-built one in the client with a select few words blocked and you could remove or add to that list if you wished?
