I'm curious, where does it say who was the creator?! :fear: (NOTE: I dont use KaZaA) -_-

      From http://www.bluemoon.ee/bluemoon/index.html

The most widely known (and used) Bluemoon development is the FastTrack P2P Stack – a peer-to-peer communications technology that powers world's leading file sharing applications: Kazaa, Grokster, and iMesh.

Hello Denon it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several days, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

Skype is another program co-programmed by PriitK (Along with, I believe, the other KaZaA programmers) which allows you to make phone calls over your internet connection (Or something along those lines).

Geez, you guys make it sound like he was an early pioneer or something. Most of you guys weren’t even using computers when the first peer to peer (P2P) applications appeared.
P2P computing is simply decentralized computer networks and has been around since 1979. USENET (newsgroups) was in existence in 1979 and represents an example of a distributed application, and was the brainchild of two graduate students named Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis. Another outstanding early P2P success is FidoNet. FidoNet, like USENET, is a decentralized, distributed application for exchanging messages. FidoNet was created in 1984 by Tom Jennings as a way to exchange messages between users of different BBS systems.
At that time, there was nothing like the internet. But because files were being traded over screaming 1200 baud modems, everything got batched and transferred at night (when phone rates were lowest). Because of this, there was no way to centralize USENET. The same problems (like scalability, security) that face modern P2P applications were the same ones that the early applications faced.

So P2P technology and ideas have been around long before Priitk and his group. Even my company was developing distributed processing technology with edge of network devices by 1992. When Priitk and his group addressed their solution, they were addressing the same issues as many other before them, coordinating and monitoring the activities of independent nodes and ensuring robust, reliable communication between nodes. Although not exactly the same, distributed applications like SETI@home and the various distributed.net projects addressed these issues and came up with solutions. Even Instant Messaging shares common P2P technologies.

So while Napster brought a new way to steal music, they got shut down. Priitk and his group filled the niche and gave the world a better way to steal music, but it is not like they developed new technologies or invented anything new. I’m sure it was good code they developed, I am sure it was useful to many people. But people should be more impressed with what they have come up with in terms of predictive algorithms (some of which is in SS), not the fact that they developed an application that become very popular because it helped people steal stuff.

Maybe it's just because PriitK didn't make TW.
