Summary:
Easy to play yet hard to master flagging zone with nice graphics and fast-paced gameplay encouraging good teamwork. Some people might not appreciate the invisible mines, though...
What is Omniverse?
Some people may remember Omniverse from a year or so back when it was hosted by T3, had regular populations of 20-30 and was on the verge of getting SSC billing. Well, for various reasons the zone faded away, but now Omni is back featuring the same fast 'n' furious action as before!
Omniverse is a fast-paced flagging zone with a straightforward map and no-nonsense fun gameplay. The pub arena is a fixed 2-freq arrangement where both sides struggle to gain control of the five flags and take the jackpot. The map is small, but this suits the style of gameplay well, and allows plenty of chance for individual heroics whilst at the same time encouraging stong teamplay.
Ship settings are split into 4 groups of 4 ships with each team having access to one group. While generally not a one-hit-kill zone, the ships are powerful, and a bomb from ship 1 / 5 will usually kill instantly; bullets are still very useful though and indeed preferable on some of the ships. Interestingly, mines are invisible on screen (but are shown on radar).
Right now the population is still small - the zone has only just got itself up and running again - but we hope that we can soon get back to our old population levels and start up a league or two. For those who like a background to a zone, Omniverse even has a full storyline to set the scene!
The Pros
* Nice LVZ graphics based on Cosmic Rift
* Custom ship graphics
* Well-balanced settings
* Addictive flagging gameplay
* Leagues planned to start soon
The Cons
* Small population
* Invisible mines! (only a con until you get used to it though)
- Valley Ant
I found this revieuw of Omniverse somewhere in my e-mail inbox, It's from back when I used to own this as a zone. Made by Valiant which was one of the sysops at that time.
Thougt it might be nice to post it in here to give ?go Omniverse some more attention than it has right now, I'm still thinking of bringing up this league for it. all rules etc. have already been made a long time ago.
