SSBE - Site Design Contest

(SSBE) Subspace Banner Emporium is a site which maintains a collection of banners with some nice little features to make it more enjoyable to view the site. The banner squadron (Banner Boy, Banner Girl, Banner Man, & Banner Woman) are hopping around in TW more than willing to collect any banner you show them so that if something happens there is a way to get your banners back.

The current site SSBE is nice, but a bit too difficult to work with and somewhat hard to view. Because of the difficulty of working with that design a lot of the site is unfinished.

I know there a lot of designers out there, and perhaps some of you would like to contribute to the subspace community. So I open the SSBE Site Design -Contest. The object: design a new SSBE site! Attached you find a set of rules for this competition should you wish to participate.

The contest will run until May 29th, 2005, 10:00pm EST. The winner will get total recognition for the design. This includes their name on the site for design of the site (forever) and the banner buddies will also recognize their name for site design. Criteria for winning can be found in the attached rules document. If there is no definitive winner then I will place 2 designs to be used up on SSBE.

Hey Rab, ever heard of the 5k awards?

Working for nothing is something no one wants to do. But I, like many others, choose to spend some of our time contributing to TrenchWars, Subspace, or some other thing we have interest in. I'm hoping that anyone who enters is doing so because they want to have fun, contribute, gain recognition, or just want to gain a little experience. So by no means does anyone have to enter this. B)

I'll make a small amendment. To anyone who submits what is considered a 'serious' attempt at a design (as deemed by the judges) their name will be placed on the site.

Hey Rab, ever heard of the 5k awards?

No I hadn't heard of that, sounds interesting. I google'd it and their website doesn't seem to be working atm, i'll try again later. Either way, I doubt any of my sites are under 5k coz I tend to use heading images.

I don't really like following standards religiously. w3c XHTML Validation being the exception. I think the 5k target is too low, my homepage weighs in at 18.67k and loads in 3.73s on a 56Kbps modem. That's good enough for me!

PS: I hope you use a more interesting text editor than notepad! I use Edit Plus. And if you're gonna flame me on my homepage at least give me your url so I can flame back!
