As much as you might try to change an entire comunitty that simply isn't correct... tw has a awfull large number of players and all of them intend to have fun... the question is some of them want to have fun in a diferent way then you do, or maybe their personality is diferent then your own. What you must understand and respect is that even arrogant stupid teens also have their place here... and if you find them arrogant stupid teens chances are thatthey are also someone's best tw buddy ^-^ . I know sometimes people border on stupidity butthat's just the way things are. Take for example your class in your early school grades, even in a group of 30 persons with the same age and most of them with the same interests there were persons you took as dickheads and persons you thought as being your very good friends, now take something like that to a place where no one see each other where you have 500 all diferent persons from around the world... what do you expect!?
As always you must stick together with your buddies and ignore the one's you deem "stupid". About staff and their part on it... well i dont even know what they could do... what ban someone who says EZ or forcing someone to play "that" ship :noexpress .
The essence is "everyone is trying to have fun the way they want..." i must stay with the one's that have similar interests and that share something in common with me.

Good post, I agree, though I feel it's unrealistic. Trench Wars has far too many immature and downright moronic players for it to ever be very civil. However, I've noticed in recent months that pubs have had a much better atmosphere. With the advent of timed basing, people seem to work together a lot more. You do indeed see the countless Javelins, but it's pub. That'll never go away. Thankfully, ?go base is usually quite civil.

I agree that Sharks are generally expected of 'nothing less than perfect' performance, while the Spider with a 1:2 record goes unnoticed, but I've just come to accept that my favourite ship is underappreciated and just get on with it. Maybe that's why I'm still squadless.

I've Sharked with you a few times in go base though and had fun. As a Shark player myself, I do notice when I have a good partner, and I always try to say thanks for a good game, (win or lose) when it's over.

Finally, please do not refer to Sharks as flagroom janitors. We are the thankless, glorious overweight protectors of the flagroom and its contents therein. Or something...

While understand your feelings, and you make all valid points, you are fighting a losing battle trying to convince a bunch of anonymous kiddies to act like decent humans. I know because I have fought this battle for years and lost it every time.
I constantly fight myself from taking up the battle again, it is hard not to. Like you, I have played a few games in the shark. Like you, I have tolerated the critical dribble. Like you, I have been frustrated with the inane sophomoric comments. And like you, I have often wondered how things might be made better.

I don't know if this will help or not, but here is how I try to not fight the losing battle. I try only to improve those things that I have control over. I do not say much in ?go Base other than 'good luck' at the start if each game and 'good game' at the end of each game. I feel that if I simply try and be a decent person that perhaps some of it might be noticed, appreciated, and actually 'rub off' on others. I have come to the conclusion that since I can not change others, I can only try to change the way I think about things. And you know what? When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Social tolerance and acceptance in Trench Wars will not happen, and asking for it is pointless.

Asking couldn't hurt. Why dismiss the attempt?

Perhaps this thread is lost on those few that insist on doing what they do.
And yes, there are times when ignoring is what you have to do, but there isn't that kind of problem with a large majority of the players.
