Anyone actually know why they call it Trench wars?
and, why is TW so popular?

I was thinking about this today, and I can safely say because it is automated, and more organized than most zones.

I always figured "trench wars" was a euphemism for anal sex.

I always thought it was because when you're heading up to the base theres a lot of ways you can get fucked up, like the trench wars of ww1? at least that what I thought 5 years ago

It's called Trench Wars because in trench warfare, soldiers were less likely to run out and shoot someone, and TW, being one of the first zones to have one hit kills, thought it would be fitting for a zone where it's so easy to die.

Also, the appeal for Trench Wars comes from the fact that there are already a lot of people in it, the incredible balance of the ships, the frequent hosted events, and the popular, automated leagues.

It's alot easier than the other zones, got a bigger luck factor too.

You're forgetting a big reason.

In the past few years, Trench Wars has been becoming more and more popular than the other squads. When new people download the game, they are most likely to go into the zone with the most people, which is Trench Wars.

That too, but if I remember right, at one point TW and EG were battling over the title of the biggest zone.

tw is more popular because it is better. and i guess the original concept/map had something to do with trenches, it's just evolved a bit that's all.
