I think Rob D's from New Orleans and I'm sure Jerome's got somethin' to say.

hes from baton rouge i think? i went to school in new orleans, a lot of my friends were down there. all of them got out okay, but they arent sure about their property damage for the most part. two of them lost their cars, for sure (one of the kids had a plasma tv he was planning to take out of town in his car, but when it was time to leave the gas lines were too long and he got a ride with someone else... his street got like 5-6 feet of water and every tree on the street fell. the other dude's car was in the garage, and the garage was right by veterans hospital, which got a lot of water also). my friend that worked at whole foods got a 2400 dollar check from the company, and all my friends are applying for fema disaster aid or whatever, they could stand to get 2 grand cash from the government, which is fucking ludicrous. overall theyre doing alright, either chilling out for the semester or going to school somewhere else.

im from Shreveport, which is in the top left corner of LA (same city as Jerome)

ive volunteered around in some shelters and stuff, and have gotten to talk to some ppl that enrolled into my school. Most ppl still dont even know what has happened to all of their stuff, but the students that enrolled into my school dont act like they are all that worried.

Have they seen their homes recently?

People break down upon seeing their homes drowned in the water.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're just trying to act strong.

                    hey justin :bye1:

I have a few Nawliners in my classes. One of them fell asleep every night looking at the levee, so when it broke, she was -the- first to know. She's really good at ping pong and volleyball.

The other 2-3 I met all have the same story. Flooding, leaving. All of them had to leave EVERYTHING behind. Most have relatives and since they came from New Orleans (where property value [used to be, still is??] sky high) most have alot of money in bank accounts etc. so for the most part they're ok.

I just heard that the prostitutes have come through the storm better than the drug dealers. The drug dealers lost all of their crack, but the prostitutes can simply wash their crack off and be right back in business.
