  • Another Idea, this time, it seems good.

Hi guys, it's me again Last Rites, I wanted to introduce to you guys another idea I had in my head for quite some time :

When you don't want someone in squad, for any particular reason, it is easy to kick the guys butt out $ , all you have to do is go on owner and ?squadkick

However, sometimes when the person is kicked, they lick to stay on chat and make others bothered by their continuous whines. Ofcorse, the common cure is ?ignore, but check this out:

How about a way to ?chatkick? How coool would that be?

If a command such as chatkick would be hard to implemnt in the game ittself, then I thought up of an alt. solution. :

The same way you would sign up for a squad online, if there would be a way to sign up for an oficial chat also, with the same commands as signing up for any squad.

Only difference, is htat there will be no promoting/demoting, only "kicking" and "accepting" on chat. This may had a little bit of tediousness while gatherign new members, but it will make people gettin' off chat so much easier!

What do you guys tihnk? Give me some input!

    Thanks, Last Rites

Good idea, unfortunately it would require a change in the biller which isn't going to happen.

You would need to make the change to the SSC billing server which TW staff doesn't control. This has come up many times on here. I know Priit is working on a new update for Continuum so maybe he'll also update the biller. Jacen also has a bot that does this but I don't know how well the development is going so anything like this is really unlikely to be implimented.

There is a procedure for giving new ideas to staff, TWPS. There's a discussion and proposal forum for it below this one. Although it's alright to be doing it this way Last Rites it would be nice to throw it over there and read up on what has been suggested and what can be done so we don't get reposts and fill up this forum with that stuff.

Well wouldn't the chats have to be localized to have something such as ?chatkick implemented?

And as for the thing where you have to sign up for a chat, there's already something like that. It's called MessageBot.

Hmmmph, thats cool. Well thanks for the inputs, I knew it would require a change, a mjor change in something, but was not sure exactly what it would be.

Btw, will do Kolar. However, I have trouble gettign that stuff to work

            Thanks,

It's already been suggested for the next client update. Whether PriitK takes it on board or not is another matter entirely.
Currently, the closest alternative to this is Ikrit's messagebot. Last I saw there were still a few bugs in it but the bot itself is functional. It has been put aside for a little while though. I fear he may be spending a little too much time trying to find his prime number instead.

the whole billing server would change, and it would be for the better!

well, good idea. Is wut u are proposing like there is a capt for a chat as well, and he/she can control whos in it and whos not. I guess it would be easier as well, since u can also know how many ppl are actually on the chat.

Hmm, better idea than the first, but its not gonna happen anytime soon

its a good idea, but if the squad changes chats, then the person will be "banned" from a useless chat then..

For those who don't know, here's a quick rundown of how a subspace server works.

There are two components: "Subgame" and the billing software.

Subgame manages most of the in-game things such as ship positions, etc. It's the billing server which manages your username/password/points/squads/etc. That's why even when you go on a zone on another server (that also uses SSC) you are still on the same squad and can still communicate to people in other zones.

The "chat owning" concept is already implemented in other zones that don't use the SSC billing software. In some of the servers which use the alternate billing software there is a way to literally "own" chats, just like owning a squad. You have the ability to invite people to it, and likewise kick them off.

If I remember correctly, the billing server that CatID made a while ago (it's at http://www.ssihosting.com/catid/) has this feature.

But I don't see SSC switching to using an open source billing server... ever

                          post in twps

thats why qans done alot of work for twps then at least you have done this formally.

but its just like staff chat even if you know the chat and have like ?chat=staff
you cant use it but would be awsome if each squad had a simple thing that related to there squad roster so for example
                          ?squadjoin=WOOHOO
                          and so
                          ?chat=WOOHOO

and as long as you was on roster you would be allowed on chat

HTF <ER>> yes because i like 14 year old boys pretending to be female

Another new idea. (not such a serious one) I realize how hard this can be, but check it out:

It's really cool that you can have a banenr next to your name and everything, however, I know alot of ppl who would like to personalize themselves, (in this case try to look more unique) by changing the color of their ships flames/exhaust, so that everyone else may see it.

This would however start a whole new revolution, becuse everytime you would log on to the TW server, or simply enter the zone, you would find yourself constantly downloading other peoples flames and stuff. But, instead of letting people make all sorts of crazy stuff, I thought about another way:

How about if there were lets say, about 3-4 default flame colors, this way everyone would be able to choose from these 3-4 colors, without having to worry about DLing someoenes stuff over and over. I realize they would have to make quite a few additions to continuum engine itself.

I know, the idea is really weird, but I think it would be totally cool.

Just imagine if they can get it done, then you would be able to get your actual banner, on to your ship $

                            -----------------------------------------------

Another idea: (sorry I have so much, whether they are old news or not, im nto sure, twps is not workign with my broswer atm)

Whats this about now? Well, it's about Decals!!!

LR< wtf do you mean? I mean when you have an explosion close to a wall, it will have that big ole' blast radius black color on the wall $ Now that would be awesome.. heres how someone can go about doing this:

It be just like changing that tile of the wall with the defauly skin, to one that has a black burnt skin instead, not all black, but kidna circular along the wall.
God, that would totally look neat.

It's probably alot more complicated then I think, but heck $

                            Thanks,

                            Last Rites
