The people Siege and Elusive were playing were not nearly as skilled at approaching as aggressive squads are today..people get better over time, especially when you can watch the better people in DDs/elim and see what theyre doing. What you are seeing is the evolution of the game.

EDIT: i wouldnt go as far as ratty is saying about PLAYERS being less skilled, but as a team people get better together.

Aww that's too bad Scrot. That's what happens when you run such a big squad... people leave all the time. People just don't have any loyalty anymore (then again did they ever?). Should have just kept it small to the people who wouldn't care if you didn't play non-stop in TWDD. Big squads = recipe for disaster unless you're Sk8 and play non-stop.


As for comparing the past and the present it's pretty impossible to compare. But I have to say that in absolute numbers there are more good players now than before. In TWL season 2, Elusive won 7 of our games by a margin of 30+ points. We beat one squad with only 3 guys (one playing a spider) by a margin of 25 (yes that's with 20 auto-deaths). I guess you can't do that anymore.

All I can think of is the merger Red Veil offered you, the 12-15 active and good players we would have brought, and how Elim was to proud to let basers come and help out his squad. I feel bad for -leg- because I know a lot of guys on it, hell I was invited to it after RV died, but you had the chance to save yourself right there, and turned it down.

Yeah we had a chance to become the joke of trench wars. Merging with Red Veil? When the subject was 1st mentioned to me, I thought it was someone trying to being funny. After I found out that the unspecified squadmember to whom I was speaking was serious, I think my response was "Hell no" or "Fuck no" or maybe it was "Are you out of your friggin' skull?!" You get the idea.

Not true. By mid-late 2000, Siege and Elusive had a whole host of talented squads that they had to fend off. Some of those squads would probably be on most people's lists for top 10 or top 15 squads of all time. Besides how would you know? Im not being an ass....just seriously....

I didn't come here to insult -leg- because a lot of the guys on it are cool. But you could have saved your squad easily and improved your lj and ld lines, while also becoming a three league squad. You're simply to much of an arrogant idiot to comprehend that. As Far as Scrotals Horde goes, I was around back then, and you guys were good, but not as good as you seem to remember.

I think it's pretty clear Ice is the best squad right now, so you should measure all squads by it. Take a look at thier roster, not exactly filled with old Siegers and Elusive era players now is it?

Very true. More often the not, the vets are less active, less motivated, and have less potential to improve (usually they get worse ... and if they're lucky they just stay at the same skill level as they've been for the past years).

Most of us from back then don't even play anymore. FBZ was on Siege and FF and Jack were on Elusive though.

If only you knew..Shriek was the only good rushing squad I've ever seen in TWL. Still today a 'defensive' squad will beat most rushers unless the rushers play well together

if you add rampage then i agree. but both were forced to go defensive in the end.
