someone has lowered the spec setting in TW to 350ms

someone has lowered the forced to spec setting to 350ms. And using a 56k dial-up from the states starts at about 140ms then when it crosses the atlantec that adds another 100ms, so at best the connection is 240 to 280ms often spiking to 340 to 380ms. The spec setting used to be 450ms but placing it 350 and below just bars people with dial-up ISP.
The reason for being placed into spec list as due to excessive packetloss, but before and after the pl was only 1.7% and the latency just spiked to 350. The mod said he had no idea who controlled the spec settings.
About a week ago there was a forum thread asking for the spec setting being lowered to below 250ms. That would bar almost all from the US except those using broadband (cable and dsl connections.)

That's not true at all by the way. Most broadband users are well below 250. Not all, but it's definitely the minority of broadband users not the majority that is over 250.

Seriously 350 is still plenty high if they did change it. If you are trying to play with above 350 ping... you're just wasting your time in my opinion.

Indeed, if you play with a ping so high you not only forsake most of the gameplay, you ruin it for the pilots around you as well.
At 300 ping one can still chain eat bullets, but nevertheless that's a step towards reason - a wise decision.

My cable modem is of the lower end, as it was one of the first produced by Road Runner, and i run 160 ping average, on regular nights. I hardly think the change is too terrible though with the server problems , it can be a pain in the ass for ALL americans, despite their connection types

PS-this change is horrible, this game is made to be compatable with 56k modems and this is a step in the opposite direction.

my broadband gets averages 140 to 200. it used to be usually 140 but when i installed office xp it went up 20ms or so.
