What about the newer players - who dont know whats going on? Most of the older players dont even play that often.

So dont tell the newer players? They dont need to know. Will only make them want to quit

It matters as without an update continuum is going to die quicker. I estimate it has a current lifespan of 1 year max. (think about what happened when twister http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twister_%28cheat%29 appeared



We face the same problem now with CE.

- i wasnt around but the History says that without continuum - subspace would be no more) If there is not an update - this year will be the last TWL. With an update (that fixes cheat problems and adds some new exciting feature) it would buy us another 2-3 years before needing another one.

Maybe im being too gloomy but i think the situation is serious....

CE is differernt than Twister. Twister was made to specifically cheat with Subspace. CE is simply a memory editor that can be used on any program. An update to the client wont do much without a big update to the server to be able to catch and stop cheaters.

Back on topic, and tying in with needing an update. The problem (cheating is not a result of this though) is that the sysops are gone or don't care anymore. Last I heard dock was M.I.A. and Priitk hasn't been around the zone for a while. Everyone knows Priitk will most likely not create another client for this game. Period.

I don't blame them for any of this, just thank them for what they did. The only solution I see is if priit releases the source to a respectable/trustworthy developer, or makes it open-source (if he really doesn't care anymore).

Back when i started playing, in 2002, clearly there was way less to do in TW, as rudy nicely pointed out. Now t there is more, it is clearly harder for staff to keep up, but i still think something has really changed among staffers in the past years. back in 2002 er's and mods knew their shit, but didn't go around looking for abusers, they would just act on action and do what they had to do when the time came. Nowadays you see staff practically looking for reasons to warn players with their godly abilities, and each day you see like 7 new <ZH>'s, and none are really qualified. Also, you used to see mods doing more work back then. Even with <ZH>'s coming in to help out mods, i have never had anything answered or done for me when needed by a mod, other than plob#f, and Rudy with my bans. Clearly mods arent really hired for this work, as they also develop new things and test software WHATEVER, but they seem somehwta lazy IMO. Also, you don't see much head staff playing anymore, aside from Pure_Luck. back then youd commonly see PriitK (on his alias's or on PriitK), DoCk>, Arilou Lalee'Lay, 2dragons. Just my thoughts, dont flame me if u disagree blah blah. And no i didnt read this over to check for errors.
