i'm totally okay with a first-come-first-served situation. even if all of the javs spots are filled with complete and utter newbies, at least a limit will lessen the odds of getting tk'ed.
i'm also with tk. i realize that the problem is more far-reaching than what a ship limitation will fix. however, in the meantime, while we try to figure out how to make everything peachy keen, a ship limit is better than the current state of things.jasonofabitch loves!!!!

One thing I've long suggested reducing the arena population cap. I think it has other benefits, but fewer people will also mean fewer javs.
I've also suggested map modifications. Right now, people are so versed with the jav bounce angles, newer players want to emulate them and try it themselves, with poor results. There are also too many angles that people can use to lob bombs into the tunnel. I'm not saying we should get rid of all of the current popular tunnel lobs; we just don't need that many. Part of the problem too is that the spots people sit in are too shielded and safe. Let's make it a little more dangerous to sit in those familiar spots.
Here's one idea for a minor map modification: you know those holes on either side of the wall just under the flag? Javs sit in those hanging walls, bounce bombs off the ceiling and go through those holes into the tunnel. What if we put blocks near those holes. They don't have to completely block off those holes. Place them so that the only way a jav can lob bombs through them is by actually getting in there and putting their noses up against those holes. They can shoot bombs down the tunnel still, but there'd be a couple of changes. First, the bomb won't have bounced yet, so they will actually bounce in the tunnel and explode in mid-base. The other change is this puts them closer to the action and at risk of bombs or repped mines coming up from below.
People also want to make weasels bigger again so they can't slip into the flag room so easily. What people haven't considered is how this will make it safer for javs to sit in there tossing bombs. Increase the size of the weasel and I predict even more javs. One alternative is to return the weasel to regular size but, like in a recent thread I started, what if we shrank a different ship? What about a mini-lanc or, as some people found intriguing, a shrunken shark?
These are just a few ideas; I'm not saying they don't have their own flaws, but capping the number of javs is not only flawed as well, it's limited in scope to just the pure pubs. People are too hesitant to consider any drastic changes, but with how many complaints there have been about javs, maybe the problem is getting big enough for drastic measures.
We need to think beyond a hard cap on the number of javs. Some of these suggestions look at the reasons people like to jav. Let's focus our attention on those reasons and on how to counteract them.

What limit do you think is good for a single public TK? What about all the private frequencies? lowering the limit would also cause more fragmented teams.. Do you think we should put some kind of limit or form some kind of system where only Established squads can form private freqs?
I think the two top area shots need to go (leave them in for TWD/TWL games) because that is where a lot of the non-intentional tks occure. Rarely will someone try shooting through there in a TWD match from what I've seen because of cramming being popular.
Weasels need to go back to being bigger anyways, there's no way to make it work without blocking all the holes into the base or using that fire but no pass tile. Either way though they need to change in some way.

Of course if I say it, it's moot, but you hear it from D"eez Nuts". Rides and all of a sudden it is something considerable for once, fucking sickening. I can't wait till I get done with strikeball which will be soon at the rate things are going/if not already, so I can quit this game for good.
Something about fuck what you heard that you think you know who and what a fucking muppit is eh? Maybe then we'll talk.sage

I've always been against private freqs myself. They tend to screw basing up for anyone on the public freqs. 0 and 1 end up fighing each other, which helps the privy freq, or worse, one of those pub freqs quits basing completely. Turning people off from basing hurts the zone, and the benefits of private freqs are limited because the ones who gain anything are the ones on the private freq and they are usually already into basing.
But I understand why some people would want to base in publics with a private team. One alternative that may reduce TKing is for bots to automatically place everyone who enters the arena on their own freq so there are no "default" freqs. Players can then form teams themselves. The theory here is that the average player won't bother changing onto a team with others, so the opportunity to teamkill won't be there for most people. You'd have to first change onto a freq with other people before you are a TKing threat. The problem with this idea is that it makes individual play the "default" setting, which would discourage basing. This might work if it's only in the pure pubs though, where more people are intent on basing. That still won't do squat for regular pubs, which I don't like.

The problem with the javs started soon after infinate cloak + stealth + x-radar was removed from the tiny weasels...
Coinidence?
NO
The weasels used to keep the jav population down by killing any javs that camped.
The javs had x radar so could see the weasels but it reduced there energy so they couldnt bomb.Rediscover online gaming. Get Subspace

i think a better solution (probably more complicated) would be to make it so you have to set it as an option if you want to go to purepub as a default. dudes running around tking in javs dont want the purepub rules anyway, get them out of there.5:gen> man

No the reason the problem arose was, along the lines of what TK was saying, basing became the only thing you could really do in pub 1 or 0. So, the people who used to run around spawning and hunting levis in warbird now switched to jav because they can get more lame kills that way in a base situation.
