Zone Objectives

Yeah, the Zone Objectives have to be more refined and carefully detailed, which I am working on.

In regards to the Boki and the Public Map, I don't think it's a hassel to have it up for a couple of days at most, during the weekdays or the weekend. I've talked to some players, and they want Public to be more exciting. A careful change of map can get people interested in Publics for at least a short while, and it gives players a breathing space from the original map.

It doesnt matter having a map like boki up for a couple days to spice things up really. A lot of people dont like it and dont want it to be permanent but some players enjoy it also so it works out.

As for you assuming that I think that every aussie should get staff but not being able to play, I worded that pretty bad My point was that they have no place playing on this game with that lag, and moot/rudy dont play. Even though I have had problems with both of them in the past I dont think that they're THAT bad, especially moot recently.

But the point is that they do have a place in the game (playing wise), even if their stature now is more important than any gameplay they were a part of, as of every ausssi. I'm a bit drunk, but I'm mad at your replies regardless. Diversity doesn't have to come from different countries because that's hardly what TK meant, but god dammit if your heart is on restricting certain countries because of their lag limits, I sure hope god has mercy on your soul because they have every right to play this game as well as every game they wish to engage in. If lag limits restrict them from playing, then they do, but if they don't, fucking power to them and let them play at the minimum lag limit availability allowed.

Introduction

First of all, I would like to thank my friend who brought this idea up. You know who you are, and what he said is was the basis for what I made, lower down in this post. Trench Wars can be seen as a business. Businesses usually have a mission-statement or objectives, detailing what their organisation is all about, what they wish to achieve, and what they want to be in the future. Now applying this to Trench Wars, and we can create a direction of where this zone ought to head. Based on Trench War's own 'objectives', this gives staff an opportunity to also improve the zone.

Now, below I have created some objectives for this zone from some of my own ideas, and some from staff and players. I would like to share them with you all to get some feedback of what I could add (probably word it better too). They probably seem pretty obvious to you all, but perhaps not to newer players. Ok, here they are...

The Objectives of Trench Wars

Main Objectives

-To maintain the game play focus of this zone; Basing, and to promote it to newer players and establish it within the community (Publics), while not neglecting other aspects of Trench Wars, such as the dueling aspect of Trench Wars.

-To maintain a strong presence of automation in the zone, to ensure smoother operations, such as Hosted Events, Trench Wars Leagues and Tourny. While the Bot System in Trench Wars plays a major role in the zone, communication between Staff and the Player Base is essential. Therefore staff are to converse with players when it is necessary (For Example; ?help calls/Hosted Events/Complaints etc) or at their own will.

-To continue to provide the players of Trench Wars, with exciting and varied hosted events. Popular events are expected to be hosted often, but not to the point where they are overhosted and lose their enjoyment.

Sub-Ojectives

-To maintain strict procedures with rules and cheaters, while providing some leniency were it is due in some circumstances. Rules will be made clear to remove confusion as to any wrongdoings and unlawful behaviour.

-To ensure that there is sufficient staff online at all times, so that player’s requests and questions can be acted upon as quickly as possible.

-To maintain the competitiveness within the zone, by introducing new players to TWD and TWL respectively.

How these Objectives are going to be used:

Based on these objectives, I am going to try to make Trench Wars orientated towards them. I'll give you an example. Publics have been in a shambles for quite some time now, and being one of the objectives of Trench War's is to promote and establish basing in Publics. Now, this could be done with putting timed games in all Publics, or I had an idea of having a carefully chosen Base Map as the Public Map every (second)weekend. We could also get a Public basing guide up in 'F1' (in-game) or on the Trench War's site.

What I am getting at is, there are many many ideas to which this zone can be improved via these objectives, and I'm not afriad to hear them all.

Lastly

These aren't finalised yet. I want to hear more ideas, and what you guys think of this idea. How it could be improved, what could be added etc.

i object to this "baseing" theme.

for the following reasons;

1) the no lev zones are "#1" in the arena list.

2) the fact that "baseing" has become equal to "no levs"

3) because of the fact of #1 and # 2 we get a lot of spawners in lev zones.(lamers that cant cut it in non-lev zones just spawn kill without regard to the flag'baseing')

4) the so called "pubs" are what you are trying to get more people on. yet they are either ignored or ridiculed. (i.e. changeing the arena to plant trees!)

5) the just plain arrogence about a game thats been around for so many years and not even leaveing it alone. IF it isnt broke dont fix!!!!.

6) i could go on and on(lev bullets dont kill anymore so no choce but nuke, how about keeping track of tks between the lev and lev free zone. That one will be surpriseing to a few)


i have been playing since the server was in europe. i hated the lag then but i would trade that lag for a hands off a game thats done well enough on its own!

I personally love Boki. That being said, I don't agree with it neing used as the pub map.

A new or updated pub map would be nice (not just a change or tweak of the tileset) but it should be something new, not just using a map from somewhere else.

You need at least one or two of the publics to remain completely unchanged. People that just start playing need an arena that they can just figure out the keys in. I think all the publics should be different. Make one a permanent boki map, make another 2 the automated ones like pub 0, make another public a cycling one.. or something.

You know what would be really really fucking cool though, and it would actualy make me want to play pub. Make an arena designed just for LTs. two teams.. one team has 5 LTs, one terr, one lev, 10 people. Make the other freq have a shark limit, and stuff like that. The team inside the modified public map (extra entrances, different style of flagroom, more flags?) has to stay alive, defend the flag(s) to gain time or points. Meanwhile, the LTs goal is to take out as many enemies as possible.. so ya a point battle I guess.

I don't know, sounds weird, but if I ever learn or get the time to make it, it'd be cool. Heck if anyone likes the idea, or wants me to actually develop the idea, I'd be glad to help design the idea.

At least 2/3's of the posts in this thread have nothing to do with a mission statement or objective of TW.

Allow me to use an analogy that I have used before on this topic, mountain climbing. A mission statement would define why we want to climb mountains and which ones we desire to climb.
It DOES NOT define how we are going to climb those mountains (a mission statement defines the objective(s), a 'plan' defines how the the objective is going to be reached).

There can be plenty of discussion/debate on the exact path we want to use to climb the mountain AFTER we decide which mountains we want to climb and why we want to climb them at all.
