The mission statement is pretty much a pointless waste of time if we aren't going to plan on how to achieve this mission at the same time. If we just write up a bunch of stuff, it's just going to sit there and collect dust.7:Knockers> how'd you do it Paul?

Why not do both at once? I was never one for organization :P Developing the plan and defining the objective at the same time can only make more room for both how and why to bounce around no?7:Knockers> how'd you do it Paul?

I know you were refering to Eph's post. You're missing the point of a mission statement. We don't go into this by making the mission statement and developing a plan at the same time because that's not how it works. For one thing, there won't be one single plan to fix everything. There could be plans for little things in different areas, such as map design, staff direction, bot programming and setting adjustments, and not all of those plans will be put into action. The mission statement defines the overall goal for any changes, not just the ones we want to make now, but also those we will want to make down the road. What we're doing now is setting that goal first so those future plans will fit into the same frame work.
To use Eph's analogy, what we're doing is defining our objective to climb some mountains, but there are more than one mountain before us, and they each will need different plans. The mission statement will also prevent someone suddenly proposing a plan to go scuba diving.

I'm going to speak on behalf of basing, like Moot said, to upgrade the public arenas, why don't you guys put the ?go base tiles in public settings, it'd be more essential for the new commers to get a ahold of what they're going to start dealing with once they get more ahold of the game, which like everyone has been saying/mentioning, more competetiveness towards us and the rest of TW

well, one thing that i have noticed that i have not commented to you mootland is the following:
when in a public arena where there are <ZH>'s in the zone, and a person asks a simple question such as: "How do I attach", and an innocent trencher is left to respond to the question, while the <ZH>'s continue to discuss other items in the public chat.
I beleive that TW STAFF (<ZH>'s Inparticular) should be devoted to helping trenchers learn the basic TW commands and operations. I'm sure if this person would have submitted a ?help, someone would have called on it, and would have sent a robohelp automatted response. which is enough.
it seems to me that the <ZH>'s that were in the arena didnt really care about helping the trencher to teach them how to attach.
A true <ZH> will help a trencher wheather they submit a ?Help or not.
so mootland, what i would suggest is the following.
setup a program where if a person asks a question in public chat, and there are enough witnesses or so, the <ZH> should respond. if they do not respond, then there should be some type of petition process where the trenchers can exclaim that the following <ZH> did not help me when i requested assistance in public chat.
if you argue: what if the <ZH> is helping someone else ---- The <ZH> should tell the trencher to submit a ?help, or tell another <ZH> to come help the trencher.
but for a <ZH> to completly ignore the question of "How do i attach" in the public chat to me i dont think is a devoted <ZH>
just me two cents.

Krazie did you know that not everyone looks at the public chat desperately looking for those questions?
That's why there are arena periodic messages to tell players to ?help when they need an answer.3:Wax> ard and i snapchat all the time

3:Wax> Tummy sticks is the situation, commonly referred to as a game, in which two erect men cuddle closely and face-to-face causing their two erect penises, or sticks, to push upwards between their stomachs, or tummys.
3:Wax> Sticks combine with tummys, hence the name "tummy sticks."

Whether it would require more rewards and credits, I would like to think many ZH want to do the job rather than get enough calls to get a promotion. It's hard to pick up who is doing the good jobs in public chat, as we are not always there. At least with Stats, we can determine who is doing a lot, and who is doing a little. But, if it becomes common practise, I'm not sure anyone will need an incentive.
I will be working closely with Mootland Farmer (because he is hot) with the Zone Objectives, if you have any other ideas to be discussed in length feel free to PM me in zone etc.

Zone Helpers are here to respond to ?help calls. I do believe that if a player asks a question and a staff member is in that arena, then that staff member (be it that they are no afk) should help that player. I don't think we should limit this to just <ZH>s, as there is a wealth of information in the other levels of staff too.
I also agree in terms of RoboHelp. Although useful, I think newer players may get confused, and not actually realise they are being helped. I've always believed staff should communicate one on one as well as using the bot to make sure the player understands the answer to their quiery.
To be honest, I think it's quite easy to get into the game. You have;
-?help and Staff
-The green messages every so often with what ships/weapons do
-Players in-game
-F1
But, I think we could also add in something to the news when you enter the arena. But only sysops can do that. Add in a Trench Wars guide into F1 and into the TrenchWars.org site. What do you reckon?

mootland, that site i think would be even more efffective if it is put into the ZONE description as in when you hover your mouse over the zone, and right click, it should display that link as well as just www.trenchwars.org
http://www.trenchwars.org/Trench/ind...?action=About&
as for <ZH>'s only responding to ?help calls, i agree with dim, that a true <ZH> will help a trencher wheather a ?Help is submitted or not. if you'd like, you can hire me as a TWSp (TW SPY) and i can ask random questions in public chats, and then provide unbiased feedback to TW dean, and upper TWSTAFF.
just a suggestion displaying how i am willing to make the zone a better place

or better yet TWDEV can program a bot for you that will create random player names, and ask random questions in public arenas, and log all of the immediate responses to see if the <ZH>'s are helpful or not.
i'm sure the bot can also be programed to respond to certain messages in certain ways using keywords and such...6:Screamo> this sub is making my leg twitch
