Could someone finally correct the spelling mistakes? It was said 3 months ago that they will be fixed soon (although this is TW, where "soon" usually means sometime next year).

does that exclude ?go base, ?go elim, ?go tourny and no levis allowed in pubs at all when there is only 2 pubs open (especially europe daytime) or is that a permanent mistake of staff forgetting there are people who want to have a real pub and this objective?
We are not going to shut these games down.

well as far as i know they started as events too, why not put it down to either elim OR base or whatever else in rotation the same time when there is only 2 pubs open, one "pure" and one with 16 specs and 3 players that doesnt even allow levis. im not gonna try to shut those down permanently since they attract alot of people but we cannot ruin the game for them to have their favourite event hosted all day without breaks :/ and wouldnt it be a little more fair to those europeans who couldnt play in a real pub for years now because there just isnt any in their daytime? we had 4 big german pubsquads running with people being active at least every second day. now only me and my bro in pubs, chi-town in base and well barely others from here are left in the game. they stopped when there was no game anymore for them. i can get them interested again sometimes by messengers but soon as they log in they see no players and leave. do you really think we can leave it that way?

The main objective of Trench Wars is to hook new players and keep them coming back.
Why? Because most people when finished installing Continuum goto the most popular zone (TW) to see if they like the game. As Trench Wars is now.. heh.. I believe we lost alot of new pilots. <_<Last edited by KrynetiX; 11-01-2006, 10:54 AM.▒█░▄▀ █▀▀█ █░░█ █▀▀▄ █▀▀ ▀▀█▀▀ ░▀░ ▀▄▒▄▀

I think the whole thing about staff not helping noobs is the exact thing that people trying to master Linux go through. Basically, some guy who knows more than you isn't just going to lay it all out nice and neat for you, especially if you didn't try to figure it out yourself (f1 anyone?). That is one of the reasons Linux isn't popular (even though it's really cool!), and it's also one of the reasons Continuum isn't popular (even though it's really cool too). 90% of people won't care to learn goofy commands if they can't get the information they need the first or second time they try. Besides, they can always just go download some new free MMORPG that has way better support and is way more intuitive. So, until there is a good support system (hell it doesn't even have to be human. RoboHelp was a good start and I'd like to see it developed more), we just won't retain newcomers. Also, the fact that our strong point is the community yet we tend to shun newcomers is a little counterproductive.-Dave

There really need to be more threads like this, ideas such as these are what keep new players active and helps promote game play.
- Maintaining a focus on basing is a good idea, but most of the newer players, even in pub mostly seem to prefer either warbird or the lancaster when playing :/
- Making the zone more automated is a decent idea, while it frees up more staff members to help with the zone, it almost makes it seem like to me that staff might be becoming more disconnected, especially when hosting events.
- With rules and procedures, having a more full staff at the later hours EST would really be helpful, although I see staff members on-line, most of the time they are AFK which doesn't really help.
- And as for maintaining competitiveness in the zone, it's a great idea, however because or the difference in preference in the individual player, promoting active and competitive game play for the newer players especially, when the log into a pure pub where most of the players want to actually base is gonna be difficult. As I said earlier, several of the newer players prefer non-basing ships, and if there is pressure coming from other players to base and they decide they don't like it, they might decide not to continue playing.Last edited by Zenlion; 09-16-2007, 01:23 AM.

Hiya Farm boy.
It's fem, and a few other femme fatales...
Seein as you're changing things around and since I've been playing for as long I'd like to give my suggestion. Something we used to have that we dont have much of any more, the thing which really aided the game most, in my opinion, was that the general consensus of people playing were interested in a good game, without cheating and little to no fuck ups, teamkills. I learned how to play with these assholes and it's the reason I'm one of the best pub terrs. It was like bootcamp in the setting of a very bad prepubesient nightmare. It was almost like there was no ?go base and everyone just pubbed. But you'd get torn up by everyone on the team if you fucked up. And forget about TKing with a jav, they just didnt allow it. I'm not saying times were great then. But they were waaaay fun. In fact the only reason I still play I guess, hopes of a good memory. People who were LTs were elite skilled, which made their shots inhiliatingly deadly, awesome, and the challenge raised. People who could hang onto the flag even when getting bombarded with levi bombs, the base entrance invaded, and still make critical shots to set back the other team long enough to win the game (though it wasn't timed then) made almost every second of the game a spectacular display of skill, wit, brilliance and phenominal luck.
I've never been a pain in the ass and I've always just played because I love the game.
No one has responded as to why I recieved a ban from playing and I would like to have that error amended, I've been playing for over 10 years now and haven't ever recieved even a warning. But even the wish to ever play again is dimmed by the memory of how great the game once was, and good luck to you in achieving that again moot, even if you have to introduce it in a new way.

Sub-Objectives
-To maintain the competitiveness within the zone, by introducing new players to TWD and TWL respectively.
Based on Trench War's own 'objectives', this gives staff an opportunity to also improve the zone.
Marketing is great, but one of the biggest problems with TW is getting people from pub into the interesting arenas. THIS is how you make a permanent player. We cannot continue to hope that newbies are going to find their way into TWD, TWL, ?Go base, or anywhere else if they begin in a pub 32 with 6 players and think that THAT is indicative of the game they are playing. They will never get to know how detailed and complex TW really is if they are not given an easy and quick chance to learn. This will accomplish the objectives which I have previously quoted.
DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY: ENTER DSB AND ?GO TUTORIAL. You will be blown away with the possibilities. If we make a ?go tutorial map for TW, every new player will be able to learn about ships, settings, maps, etc. in an interactive way.
So to TW Staff, i bring this challenge before you! Begin preparations for making ?go tutorial! Form commitees, assign delegations, do everything in your power to make any marketing plans useful by getting newbies into the game as quickly and easily as possible!
