Actually, programmin in .NET is a lot easier than Java due to intellisense. Once you have it, its really hard to go back to the old way of doing things. Oh well.

If you wrote a new core that worked on linux and windows that was even .0001% better than TWCore, I'd switch TW over to it.

I really don't understand what's so hard about getting packets right in c/c++. You just open up a port and push them in. The other end can then do what they want to.

PS: Continuum will probably die if the client doesn't get updated anymore.

Nothing hard about it, it doesn't run easily on a linux machine though.

intellisense is an IDE feature and has nothing to do with language.

Netbeans (one of a few free java IDE) has its own version intellisence (except its called something else i think as intellisence is a microsoft trademark).

You can if you wish write .net and java code in notepad, which doesnt have intellisence :P

Richard you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. Remember that next gen game systems thread with Ratty being a complete fucking moron? That is you, this thread.

MetalKid, you can't program in ".NET 2005" I'm guessing you mean write according to the C# 2.0 (Because Visual Basic is out of the question) specification using the Visual Studio .NET 2005 development environment. Also, IntelliSense doesn't make it easier to program, it makes it easier to type. They have IntelliSense for C as well, does that make it really easy to code with? We aren't going to do this for a couple of reasons. First of all, its a shitload of work. If we were going to port it to a completely different language we might as well just write it from scratch because that would be easier and less time consuming. Secondly, we would not be able to upload files we compiled on our windows computer to the linux server and have them just run. Yes, I know all about the Mono project and I have used it enough to know that you might not even be able to compile something on the server without making some changes to the source.

I maintain that in this situation (the entire situation, which encompasses much more than this discussion has touched on) Java is if not the best, one of the best choices.
