My point was that Mootland flings it out several times in debates as if were holy writ, but I've yet to see anything to suggest that the objectives are anything more than his opinion stated as his role of smod head of PR.

The top part of the Zone Objectives was made by Eph, with a tad of formatting from me. The rest of the Trench Wars Zone Objectives I had formulated from talking to all sorts of players in the zone. I think maybe 1-2 of the Zone Objectives are from myself."What is it? Um . . . what do you want it to be?" ?€”Juzba, Izzet tinker- Shark

People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, "Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else."

Originally posted by Mootland FarmerTo maintain a strong presence of automation in the zone, to ensure smoother operations, such as Hosted Events, Trench Wars Leagues and Tourny. While the Bot System in Trench Wars plays a major role in the zone, communication between Staff and the Player Base is essential. Therefore staff are to converse with players when it is necessary (For Example; ?help calls/Hosted Events/Complaints etc) or at their own will.
In accordance with the Zone Objective, I think it's necessary to keep the automation in Trench Wars going. However, I do agree that we are spreading ourselves thin with all these new arenas, and we need to get more players playing together in less arenas to increase the competition. That's why I suggest we do something like remove ?go javs/javduel for a weekend and maybe that'll bring players back to baseelim?
At the moment I'm discussing with staff about RoboHelp. Sure it's useful, but I think we can cut alot of the !tells out, or even all of them. Most of them are fairly basic, plus if we got rid of the !tells but wrote down all the information somewhere, it would make our <ZH>s more knowledgeable. Most of staff are pretty good I think when it comes to answering calls without tells, but I think we can increase their brainpower!!
Events are something I haven't got too much planned on the horizon with other stuff I'm up to, but I would like to do something about hosting. Perhaps if there was a new event that everyone liked, we could use that as a 'special event' or something. Just my thoughts.
Yes automation is important. TWD is a good thing (yes I do like it Mythrandir!) and TWL would not function so smoothly without bots. Elim is fun to play in too, and bots do cut down on time with stuff like hosting complicated games, or 'spec at 10' or lagouts. But what isn't necessary is as you've said, stuff like ?javduel, ?go wbduel and like ?go javs and even tourney which seems to be running non-stop without reprive.
As well, becaues most games in this zone are completely automated, even staff-hosted events is too repetitive and constant for it's own good. If events weren't so automated, they would be hosted less yes, but then each game would be more meaningful.Epinephrine's History of Trench Wars:

?go base isnt on that list because javduel ?go javs and wbduel all have counterparts (belim, elim). I'd go as far as to say that if this new Super Contra boss-lookin pub gets put in (thanks pete!) that the ?go basers can just go to pub and play, but since hopefully that wont happen lets just keep base
Those zone objectives were done by the whole community, but the methods of achieving them may differ greatly, as I am finding out. Still, moot is right here with the automation. You cant just scrap every bot that took people who knows how long to do, but at the same time some of them are actually not doing good for the zone. On weekends I think tourny is the largest offender since all the javs are there instead of belim.
And damn thats a lot of bots
EDIT: and keep in mind that when you open things up to the community you're going to get a bunch of sertifi's saying that your idea is the best thing in the world and that you should do what you want, but its important not to let that entirely get into your headI'm just a middle-aged, middle-eastern camel herdin' man

Perhaps this doesn't go here, and I'm not sure where the official thing is, probably some overlooked email address but in any case.
dL.Chao NEEDS to stop hosting zombies, once a day is really way too fucking much, but its all the damn guy hosts and with him the thing is done 20 some odd times a day. It's getting VERY annoying and it needs to stop.sage

You can host zombies in pretty much any arena without it really ruining the zombie fun. I mean what is zombies really? It isn't really about the module that changes one ship to another ship when it is killed. Zombies to me is like ?go zombies, and ?go ghoulgames, the dark, zombieish feel like from a cheap b-rate zombie movie we all love so much. That was partly my thought process when I started the wacky-zombie phase in Trenchwars that so many other staffers mimic these days. Also you can do what some other staffers do, don't call it zombies, be creative and change the killmsg its just !load zombies, !add got clOWNED by an evil alien cloning machine %%2, !del 1, to make a totally new game and atmosphere, left did it with fantanas, I did it with EACM, im sure others can think of some stuff. Kyace I like that idea about making people answer a question about the rules before playing, I get tird of people saying "I didn't read the green message" I mean I used to spec them anyways but hell, I would much rather morons get specced before the game so I don't have to deal with them and take away time from the players I am trying to keep entertained with witty *arena messages and whatnot. But I would just go the opposite route and make people fly to their coords or spec them, in fact if I ever get staff again, I am going to host without bots, just to prove that it can be done if the staffer is willing to do it, and show the amount of games that can be hosted without bots that people think would be impossible. Izor is right about the ?go base thing, people say this zones objective is basing, if you change the pub to what you want it to be, than you need to stop doing the auto and manual adverting for ?go base, then basing/javs/warbirds would all have ONE arena to play in, and basing would still be dominant because you log into the zone and are in a pub so.
Me and Dameon had a good idea awhile back that never really came to fruition due to lack of squads that were willing to compete. Mid-Week Madness, where there would be a group of games with a main event hosted in the middle of the week to sorta give people a reason to logon to this weekend-mainly game. Even though THAT idea didn't work I was thinking that what we need is a motivation to play this game every day of the week. We have already basically said that certain groups of players play this game for different things, different sub-events etc. What if (server time) Monday-Friday from 6-10pm staffers could only host the type of event set for that current day of the week (these would be changeable monthly or so) For instance, monday would be basing, tuesday would be javving, wednesday would be dueling, thursday would be flagging, friday would be zombies, so that group of player atleast would logon more during that day besides the normal people who play anyways, so monday is a basing day, people host basing, I wouldn't really logon for the basing, but I would still be on for twd, elim etc. But we would attract alot of basers to play during that current day. So then every-day of the week, we would have a group of players who might not be on, decide to play a little more a little longer to amp-up our mid-week nighttime population.Rabble Rabble Rabble
