I guess I'm pretty late on this, but I recently saw the new Continuum community site and found out that you can get Continuum runing on Linux via Wine.

I decided to take the plunge and install Ubuntu Linux. I really like it a lot so far. Much faster and nicer than Windows. The only thing that kept be from changing earlier is because Continuum wouldn't work. I've got Wine running and most of my old Windows programs work pretty well within it.
Well, a while ago someone hacked Wine to get Continuum to run. There are binaries on the site above. I couldn't actually get them to work, so I ended up figuring out how to compile it myself. It's working fine now. I screwed around with it a bit, and got it to about 30fps @ 1280x1024 resolution. It's playable, but a bit jerky. I think I could probably get it running better if I mess around with it a bit more.
Ubuntu itself is pretty user friendly and easy to install, but to get things done within the OS itself you need to be used to using the command line etc. I jumped right in without knowing much at all about Linux/Unix and I'm just figuring out stuff as I go along.
If you are fairly knowledgable about computers and want to try Linux out, I definately recommend Ubuntu. It's fairly user friendly and not that hard to figure out the commandline stuff if you're willing to do some research. I think I'll stay away from Windows from now on unless there are some games/programs that don't work correctly in Wine.
