I was liking the ideas till the levi idea. This will pretty much be the death of the LT, even if its only on the weekends. Either way I suppose changing the settings this way would be a good temporary idea, in hopes of getting more people interested in TW and getting more people that regularly play TW, to pub. The only small problem I see in this is getting feedback from it. Most of those guys that do play pub dont actually make their rounds to the forum so it might be better to just put a bot in the publics loaded with the poll module.

agreed with crazi, except the cloaker. L2 bullets would be nice, so that people cant just fly up to a fully charged wb and x it..instead they'd have to vulch or kill a camping wb, like someone sitting at the entrance to base just lobbing strays (such as me). But I think that when they're cloaked they should neither gain nor lose energy..that way they can fire but be forced to either run away or reveal themselves.

A few side notes here.

1) remove x-radar from weasel and lanc, especially lanc. whats the fucking point of having a cloak ship if everyone can see it?

2) Revert the cloak to full size. It's the most annoying thing to have to deal with holding a flag and keeping faggots out of the ears at the same time. The objective of this zone in public is now to enhance basing. Why would you have them deal with 1 tile ships when they'll never see that on a ?go base/twbd/twlb level?

3) If you REALLY want to change the pub map this bad and test it out on prime time, perhaps try a different map every wed/thurs of a given month then the most popular one gets a sat/sun slot the first weekend of the following month. That might prevent some god awful creation like ?go altpub from turning off players to the zone entirely, but something like ?go boki might not be quite as bad.

4) The ONLY thing that was unbalanced 4 years ago was the levi in some people's minds. I like the new lanc sans xradar compared to the old one, but thats about it. imo there should need to be a reason why to NOT change everything back to how it was then, considering all that has happened in the time since. I dont remember anyone EVER discussing shipsettings then. At least, not about any ship other than lev.

5) I'm surprised the fate of purepub wasnt brought up here. It's really about time that it was done away with. Or, until a solution for levi comes about put a module to disable the ship in all pubs, but just something. The top pub is the worst imo..you cant do anything except fly into tk bombs in base. Dunno why you'd ever disable priv freqs in one pub.

You say this everytime. Purepub has the most people, and you say it's the worst. You can't do anything except what everybody enjoys doing, apparently. If people hated purepub, they'd go to pubs with LT'ing. Just like they do, right? Right? Oh wait... THOSE pubs are empty compared to Purepub. You have absolutely no basis for your complaint yet you continue to make it month after month. Why don't you drop the "I was screwed" and "purepub sucks" and "ez" and get some new fucking material?


To other parts of the thread, I think testing maps out on the weekends is fine. More people are likely to play on the weekend, and logically I don't see how testing a new map will scare people away from a new zone. If they're new, it's all new to them ANYWAY, so what the fuck does a different map on saturday matter?

Also, keep the weasel the same size as it is. Until the map is changed, the small weasel is the only thing that offers any sort of variety to the "cram2win" gameplay established here in basing. Is it lame? No. It's strategy, but thinking seems to be beyond many people who play this and want the same repetitive gameplay day after day after day.

lol who are you? I bring purepub up cause people other than me have talked about it. If you have something to counter any points in any of those threads about how it makes people think this game is terrible then post there. until then as it stands moot is currently looking for a solution to get rid of them for those reasons. That's why I brought it up here. Also seeing as how this is not the TWL forum and I havent said anything relating to how we got screwed in that I dont see how its relevant. 1) Purepub is full b/c its the first pub arena on the list. it fills by default as ppl log in. move purepub to the bottom of the pub arena list and see if it fares as well.

2) I am in favor of completely reverting all ships to previous specifications. In other words.... i want the ship settings that drew me to TW back in 2000. Plus, is there a way to add a 9th ship (i.e. Nightwasp)?? If not, could it be set awarded to the player with the most arena points??

The 9th ship/nightwasp was never added into Continuum, so it's not possible :/

I'd like to see settings that are much closer to the old ones. Not too sure about any other changes though.

Not true and it was tried with opposing results.

I also think it's unlikely we will go all the way back to older settings, I think we're gonna have to meet half way to solve any of these problems.

As for TWL, Nethila is still a TWL Op and Pure_Luck is taking on more of an advisor position.

My two cents alongside everyone elses.

• Weasel needs thrust shot removed. The ship is designed to be an assassin whereas it is being used as a fighter nowadays. Terriers were originally designed to kill them but it's moreso the opposite with the weasels taking down the terriers.
• If the purpose is to remove purepubbots and standardise the publics again, I highly recommend the leviathan settings in ?go newlev that Arilou (I think) set up one time. It made them useful both in and around base without the downside of flattening everything in it's wake with careless teamkills and frustrating base killing.

ABSOLUTELY, you should consider of removing the whole cloack thing. It's really annoying and lame sometimes. They sure can fight even without cloack!
