SS compatibility with Windows Vista RC1

Hey guys, I just d/l and installed the new build of Windows Vista - like a good little newbie, first prog I test out is continuum...

So I can't get it to work. The server list doesn't show, although I can still select entries (blank ones), neither do the ships. When I click zones I can download and add/remove zones just fine, it's just that the server list doesn't show anything. When I click enter, I just get the flying stars animation with no line that says "connecting to SSCU Trench Wars" or whatever.

Any ideas? I'd be interested to see if anybody else who's messed around with vista RC1 tried out the continuum program, or if anybody else can think of what the deal with the program is. i've tried the vista "program compatibility wizard" with no luck.

I think there is something else wrong not related to Vista since several people already reported that Continuum runs fine on Windows Vista.

Have you already checked directx ? (dxdiag)

In that thread there is a screenshot of exactly what tragiK describes. Maybe the people using vista who got it to work were using older versions i hope its easily fixed!

The screenshot is of Continuum 0.38, Bajan's screenshots are of Continuum 0.39pr1.

What Continuum version have you tried, tragiK ?

thanks for the link, maverick... unforunately it doesn't tell us how to get it to work, lol... but at least there's hope

i've tried both 0.38 and 0.39pr1 with no luck. maybe if i do a fresh install (probably should've done that first, actually...)

hmm, nope... fresh install of both .38 and .39pr1 with same results.

I downloaded Vista RC1 to try this out for myself. I'm getting the same errors that tragiK is getting. I can't see the ships or the zones or even my profile. But when I tried to access Trench Wars, it worked perfectly. I could see the ships in game and there were no graphical problems.

oh... hey... i just randomly guessed around as to which slot was TW, and it worked.

After playing the game further in Vista, I realized that in certain arenas, the graphics started to disappear.



This wouldn't seem that bad at first, but it got worse to the point where the game crashed on me. I'm going to try using 0.38 to see if I can get better results.
