Lou's summary is up there with my compilation of the infamous "Jebu and Server need to learn English
" thread on CoTs old forum right after Wildfire went kaboom.
See! I can suck my own dick too!

the best way to negate their "omg, wtf, newb, lagger" talk is to just not kill them

finish every game with a solid 0-10 and ppl will give u gg's out of pity, it works for me!
Philos> I both hate you and like you more than anyone in this game randedl
Philos> there is something about you
Philos> You're like the wife i'd love to fuck, but beat every night after work

PhaTz> we should all wear t-shirts that says "I WAS THERE WHEN RANDEDL LOST TWLD" and on the back, "TWICE"

        more jank

"newb" and "n00b" and whatever other variation has been around FAR longer than any type of l33t sp34k. I remember mudding back in '94 and seeing the term.

While I generally agree that anyone whom insults (seriously) after dying isn't all that good, it is frustrating to be hit by a luck shot, or have someone eat three blue bombs. People who whine about whiners need to do a little self-reflection. There's always the ?ignore player option.

What's truly annoying are kill macros. Honorable mention goes to "submarine1" who doesn't have a single kill macro, yet has two or three different death macros. A very wonderful player.
Unless this thread ISN'T about subspace, nobody has any right to quote a great philosopher.

I don't remember 'newb' or 'n00b' or 'noob' prior to late 2000/early 2001. I do remember 'noo b' 'nu b' 'nub'
            'vet' is the new 'newb'.
            sit ez vet, sit.

I was wondering about this too. I don't remember my first encounter with the word (probably not that far back), but I remember newbie used more lightly, e.g. "Newbie guide to HTML". In SS, it's more of a curse than anything else.

Earliest version of the jargon file I could find it in is from 1992:
